Greetings MechWarriors,
We are preparing for the next Public Test! Please refer to Russ' Command Chair post for more details!
More information regarding the Public Test system, as well as feedback threads and questionnaires for the test can be found here: http://mwomercs.com/...st-for-science/

Date
24-Jun-2014

Focus
Do It For Science! - Matchmaker, Equipment and Fall Damage Test
  • Matchmaker
    • Weight Class Rule of Threes, AKA 3/3/3/3 - 4x3
    • Solo Public Queue (Solo)
    • Solo Public Queue (2-4 person)
    • Group Queue (2-4 person)
    • Group Queue (5-10 person)
    • Group Queue (12 person)
  • Equipment
    • Clan Targeting Computer
    • Inner Sphere Command Console
  • Scalar Falling Damage
Test Time

Start: 4PM PDT / 7PM EDT / 11PM UTC
Duration: 4 hours.

Eligibility
All players registered before 23-Jun-2014 at 4:30AM PDT may join the test.

Important Notes
  • The test time is set to optimize our chances of catching the North American Eastern peak and Pacific surge, in order to see the highest possible spike of players in the test launching into the matchmaker at once. This is not intended to be an extended test. Our sincere apologies to any of our keen international players who would have preferred a different time-slot.
  • The Command Console is not currently available for purchase in this test version. To access this system, purchase the Atlas D-DC variant which comes with this piece of equipment. You may have to sell an owned Mech to make room for a MechBay, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and wish to remind all players that any changes made to your account in the test server stay in the test server without affecting your live account.
  • Please join us by installing the Public Test client here.
  • If you experience issues with the Public Test client, please try running the repair tool.

Nice. I look forward to the reports. Hopefully the fall damage doesn't cripple light mechs.

Good luck to you and your tenacity in getting 3/3/3/3 working!

If you want to actually get a ton of people playing, may I recommend opening up the Clan mechs to everyone on the Public test? This would guarantee you the numbers they need and I know I would play.

Also I really don't understand why they don't do this for all the mechs in public test. For example, I own something like 7 premium tanks in WoTs each and everyone bought ONLY after I had the opportunity to use them extensively on the public test. I also have over 1000 matches on the WoTs public test servers simply because I enjoy extensively trying out and testing tanks I haven't had the opportunity to unlock in game. Wasting time playing the same mechs I have played time and time again in regular play doesn't appeal to me, especially since I could play the same mechs in regular play and actually progress my XP, GXP and C-bill balances instead.

Command Console and Targeting Computer information available someplace yet? I am curious about these but must have missed it previously discussed.

They posted an idea of how it could possibly work so the stats are probably different than they are going to be in the PT server.

But you'll get the idea of how they want both to work from the examples.

5-10 player premade groups? YES PLEASE.

With respect to not being able to "buy the command console" (not sure why that can't be addressed), why not just inject $10m C-bills or so (to the test server account) for people can buy the D-DC? It's the test server, so selling a mech to buy the D-DC for the test isn't harmful, but you need to ensure they can buy the D-DC... or just "extend the sale" for the purposes of the PTS server and you'll be good.

It doesn't need to be complicated AND indirectly you can get more people to buy them when the PTS is over... a win-win. It's kind of a missed opportunity there.

As someone said above I hope this MM addresses the issue of groups vs all solo players, which is appears it will by the various queues. I do not mind dropping against a single small group if skill level is on par with the solo players but multiple premades vs all solo players can be a bit much.

Believe from reading prior material on the falling damage change is that it scales... the heavier the mech, the more damage it takes...

EDIT - link to the "proposed" falling damage changes -> Fall Damage Overhaul

I predict that the Clan Targetting Computer will be too weak to begin with, or will be fun and worthwhile until people whine and get it nerfed.

Scaling fall damage looks like it has lots of potential. Here's hoping my Locusts will be cured of their Lobstein syndrome.
