What's your favorite non-meta build so far? What's working / not working for you?

My favorite so far is the Gauss Wolf. He's still a poptart sniper, but he doesn't have PPCs. B)

Such a refreshing change from the meta build.

Sheesh, tough crowd. Give your own build then… and tell us how it works and how it fails.

I've been trying different non-meta builds all day. All of them have had failings depending on the team and the map. Thus far the gauss sniper seems most consistently fun.

Besides, i use my single jj mostly for mobility, not poptarting. B)

I use gauss, erppc, srm2x4 and 3xmg. Haven't seen anyone else use something like it until now, and it's my favorite build.

Calling a twin gauss with jj non meta is like, uh, calling Jack Black asian .

Trying http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a491bf889fc9f7d atm, so far so good.

Well I'm still having fun with my Gauss Wolf anyways.

Also tried an all energy Timberwolf:

But it ONLY works on Frozen City. Any hotter maps and it's   :(

Personally I've been enjoying 1 x C-ERPPC, 1 x C-LBX20, 2 x C-SRM6's. Good mix of ranges designed to push into a close fight.

DAKKA IS ETERNAL

The glorious wubwolf

Both work well.
That pulse laser boat is just awesome,2 groups on chain fire can fire non stop for ages. Also can alpha 2-3 times depending on the map.

EDIT: Oh! Forgot, two machine guns as well...

actually wonder if I Can lose the mediums and the mGuns in favor of a LrgPulse...hmmm

Not sure If my Timber Wolf S is meta but I have yet to see it on the battlefield and it really lays waste to the enemies. It becomes really unfair when someone breaks zellbrigen and you can team up (poor Atlas the other day). http://mwo.smurfy-ne...ac95efb6a9235ff It can run really hot but with good trigger control it is not bad and I have no issues on Terra Therma. I set each CERPPC to their own mouse button so that I can fire just the right, left, both. The CERSL is there incase you are running too hot to fire your CERPPCs or for added poking damage. The best part of this mech and it really catches people off guard is the 360 meter range on Clan Streaks; I have had lights try to stay out of 270 meter range of me only to catch 12 missiles.

I run 4x Clan ER-Medium lasers, and 2 Ultra-AC 5's on my Timberwolf Prime (G)

I refuse to poptart meta... Sadly the recent "nerf" wasn't good enough.

Soooo, keeping with my theme of the slightly less meta Timberwolf build, I present:

TBR-PRIME: slightly less meta

A sampling of games from today:

I refuse to run JJ's on any timby, it's just not ethical lol. I run 2x lrm15, 2x PPC, and 2x MG. As long as I can last more than a few minutes it's an beast. :P

I will admit that having JJs on my Timber Wolf does feel cheap; even more so when you add in CERPPCs. I felt a little guilty when jumping over a building and taking out an Atlas and crippling a Kit Fox with my Streaks. Then I remembered why I love the Timber Wolf so much and that we were winning because of mechs like it, and just smiled. To ease my guilt some I try to follow Zellbrigen until someone on the following team breaks it.

This one is a pure up close and personal brawler type. Been getting steady kills. But should get better when I get the thing basiced and then elited.

edit. forgot a bit

That is close to how I run my C config. Did you ever consider a LB-20X AC? Same weight except 1 crit more and hits instantly instead of over time with a optimum range of 360 meters instead of 270 meters. At 300 meters out it is so packed that it almost will hit one spot and if not 1 then close to it. Plus it has a better weapon model than that wimpy looking 2 tiny barrels.

Might just give it a try. The only advantage the UAC has. Is it is good a getting off a double tap. If it all lands that is 40dmg. But very hot when going all out.

And you are right, them UAC model does look a fair bit wimpy.
