I LOVE Trebus and it is my favourite IS mech of all. Whoever tells you this mech is bad because of hitboxes is just whining because doesn't know how to make good use of the chassis. This is NOT a brawler mech, so stick with long range and you'll be golden.
I have a 3C going at 140kph with Llas, 2x MedLas and AMS, very fun to chase overconfident lights; a 5J with jumpjets, 2x PPC's and 2x MEdLas, awsome sniper and good heat dissipation; and my most beloved mech of all, a 7K with LBX-10, 2xLRMs 5 and 2x MedLas, going 110KPH. Got my "Johnny five" achievement on this beauty, and didn't lose any arms due to "bad hitboxes". Go figure.
I'd love to get a Loup de Guerre but that many dollars are just outta my budget.
They say it's not a begginers mech and frankly I couldn't comment on that. The trebs were one of the first mechs I got and never felt difficult to me but I can see why other people dosen't recommend them to new pilots.
In short, give them a try OP, my gut tells me you won't be dissapointed.

Nice little mech man, shadowhawk/arrow/hunchback are great too in that class, but the trebuchet is def. good maybe not tier 1 but definitely close if not tier 2
