This seems really obvious, but you never know with this game. Does seismic sensor pick you up if you're jump jetting?

I... Don't know. As you say, it seems obvious, but you never know with this game.

As long as you are in the air:NO.
You hit the ground again <--- you move:YES.

This is how it should work, and how everyone would assume it works. Its the "obvious" part of his post and my response.

However, are you assuming this is the case, or have you actually tested it?

I know for a fact that it works like that, as long as you're not in contact with the ground you can not be detected by seismic sensor. Once you land however you will show up as a very big blip unless you save some fuel for landing, on most maps the jump jet sound can also be heard almost as far away as seismic sensor range, so you're not exactly stealthy regardless.

Bigger impacts produce bigger blips, as far as I know this is affected by tonnage, current speed and fall speed. Assaults, fast ones and those with jump jets in particular tend to produce the biggest blips. You can actually use seismic sensor to identify the kind of mech you'll be facing if you pay attention to the minimap.
For example a series of big blips moving slowly would be a slow assault, and a series of huge blips moving at a moderate speed would be a fast assault, a single huge blip would be a heavy or assault hitting the ground after a jump, etc.

I believe the question was, if YOU are in the air, does YOUR seismic work?
I do know it does not work while moving, and when jumping, you are automatically moving (they added a slight forward thrust, so you can't move straight unless you are also reversing when you jump and I don't think it counts that as you have a velocity even if your displacement is 0). I can't recall seeing it working while in the air, but I'm not looking for that either. I do know that when I land, I often pick up new blips as my movement is often stopped.

That's a good twist (and worth testing).

But the question is "If you are jumpjetting, can Seismic pick you up?"
So it would be someone else's.

So in testing with Lordred we came across the following.

Your seismic doesn't work while moving.
Your seismic doesn't work while jumping.
It does work in water.
It works even if your target is above or below you.

Seismic does not detect jumping mechs.
Harsh landings are announced with a larger blip.
Soft landings are completely invisible.
The 'go slow enough to not be detected' thing seems to be gone (makes me sad).
Seismic does not detect stationary turning.
No different sizes for different speeds/harshness of lateral movement.

Seismic does NOT detect when ballistics and missiles hit the ground (contrary to the statement that it should from a patchnote).
It does however give away the shooter's position even when the shooter is stationary for every weapon type fired.
