Just a thought on how to get more light and medium pilots playing.

Make scouting easier.

A way to make scouting easier I think might be to have the range at which a mech can be detected effected by things like weight, reactor size, heat etc. For example. At the moment you can detect any mech (without bap or ecm) at about 700m - 800m ish. Well an Atlas with a 350 reactor running at full speed and with heat at critical might be detectable closer to 900m. Simply because it is emitting much more 'noise'. However to detect a Locust hiding behind a rock you might need to be within 600m because it is so much quieter.

So the Locust would be able to hide behind said rock and spot the atlas while remaining undetected. Which is exactly what it should be doing. Plus it would make it much easier to get that spotting assist xp and c-bills. Further increasing the desirability of piloting these mechs.

Secondly. With light mechs effectively able to spot, each team is going to need some lights and mediums as dedicated scout hunters to chase them off.

Of course this would require much balancing. But might add another dimension to games which at the moment are dominated by heavy and assault class mechs.

Whaddya reckon?
