For AMD Crossfire users, you can obtain Crossfire scaling in MWO. I have exhaustively tested many modes and the only mode that provides positive scaling is:
  • Use DX11 in MWO.
  • In Catalyst Control Center, add an application profile for "MWOclient.exe".
  • Set the AMD CrossfireX mode to "Use AMD pre-defined profile".
  • Select the "Crysis.3.exe" application profile.

My minimum frames are about what I would get using one card (40-60fps) but I often scale up to 100+ fps depending on the scene. All settings on "Very High" using PostAA.

Let's see if we can get AMD to make an official MWO Crossfire Application Profile. Please use the following form to request it. In your description link the latest patch notes saying SLI is supported (this lets them know the engine is designed with alternate frame rendering in mind) and mention this forum post saying that the Crysis3 profile is already pretty close to what we need.

Lastly, this is the setup I'm testing on you'd like to compare performance notes:

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro x64
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k @ 4.6 GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR3 2400
GPUs: 2x Radeon HD 7870s (R9 270x equivalent)
Driver: Catalyst 14.7RC BETA available here:

I was able to get Crossfire scaling with my 6990+6970 combo by setting the CrossfireX mode to AFR friendly, but found myself with a lot of screen-flicker. I have since upgraded to a 290x so I can't say any more about the matter.

What resolution is that at?
I am running similar spec system i7 3770k @4.0, but with 2 7950s in crossfire. I am hovering around 50-80ish fps with crossfire enabled @1080p (Very high with PostAA)
