Project "Ares"

Variant documentation

THUNDERHAWK

WHK-TH

The Thunderhawk is the first Mech design in our Military Project "Ares". Designed for long ranged confrontation for commanding units, the Thunderhawk utilizes Clan ER-PPC technology for high damage-per-heat. A Clan LRM-20 missile rack allows more pounding at a long range. Should an enemy unit get too close twin Clan Small Pulse Lasers can deal a decent amount of defensive damage.

It is of the utmost importance that we capture an enemy Warhawk and test our design.

Pilot candidates should note to chain fire the Clan ER-PPCs and to alpha the pulse lasers sparingly. Care should be taken to maintain stealth if the pilot is a commander.

You have too much ammo for LRM20. Consider using 3 smaller launchers, preferably with Artemis, while ditching the SPLs. Or, you could downgrade to ALRM15 to upgrade the lasers considerably (like this). You also have too much back armor. Try to lower it as you learn to never, ever show your ass to enemies -- it is bad manners.

Thanks for the advice, I don't actually own a Warhawk so I am speculating with this build. I will revise the build shortly.

Project "Ares"

Variant documentation

THUNDERHAWK II

WHK-TH2

The Thunderhawk II is our renovated Thunderhawk chassis, with recommendations from a MechWarrior code-named Modo44. Designed for more versatile combat at more ranges, The Thunderhwak II mounts four Clan ER Large Lasers. These weapons function at close ranges as well as long ranges, unlike the Clan ER-PPC, which has a field inhibitor preventing its uses at close ranges. Two smaller Clan LRM-10 launchers give it more payload room. Less ammunition allows it to fit a Clan Streak SRM-4 launcher for further close quarters combat capabilities.

This chassis should replace all Thunderhawk chassis in production and that have been fielded.

Pilot candidates should note to be cautious with laser fire as it does produce significant heat, although this is dissipated rapidly. The Clan LRM-10 launchers can be fired at once or individually based on the pilot's preference. The back armor has been decreased and pilot should be aware of high alpha Mechs that could sneak behind them and inflict damage.

That's better but you should either trade a ton of streak ammo for an Active Probe or ditch the streaks altogether for an Active Probe+ammo or a narc+ammo.

4xERLL is more than enough point defense even against lights.

Project "Ares"

Variant documentation

SMITE

SMN-SMT

The Smite is our first medium range brawler Mech. Equipped on the Summoner Chassis, the Smite utilizes four Clan ER Medium Lasers for brawling at up to 450m. A Clan Ultra Autocannon-10 allows rapid damage to be dealt at medium to short ranges. A Clan LRM-10 allows for a decent long range deterrent, and can be used down to 180m in standard combat.

All captured Summoner Chassis should be re-equipped to fit this chassis immediately.

The tactics for this Mceh are fairly straight forward. It is recommended a pilot fire two lasers at a time to preserve heat, and it is also recommended that they do not over-use the LRM's long range capabilities, as this Mech is designed for ranges within 480m.

Anyone can participate. You just have to follow the template like this:

Font: Calibri, various sizes. Make sure you link anything relating to past and present variants, and also link to users who recommend stuff. Preferably have no more than three types (i.e preferably no more than a Thunderhawk III) and only major chassis modifications should be considered a revision (Mizeur's tips were good, but minor modifications).

Template:

Military Project Ares(size 18)

Variant Documentation (size 12)

<Variant Name> (size 14)

<Variant ID (i.e WHK-TH)> (size 14)

<Variant information> (size 14)

<Misc. Notice> (size 14)

<Piloting information> (size 14)

Also, participants (or not) can use this signature banner (I suspect no one will use it):
