St. Ives has become one of my favorite mediums.

This is what I have settled into: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...52e058cf7d8ab1a

Group One: 1xML and 1xLL
Group Two: 1xLPL
Group Three: 1xSRM4
AMS/BAP, XL235

I plan to switch to ERPPC focused build once mastered for fun. :P

I'd pull the ammo out of the right torso in the build you've got and put it all into the left torso. If you lose the left torso, either through ammo explosion or external damage, you've got no missile systems left, so ammo storage in the right side, even if it's partly used, is just a hazard. Moving it to the left side means you can get rid of the right side C.A.S.E. in exchange for half a ton more ammo, with it being better protected than it was before (no chance of dual ammo explosions leaving you with a single medium laser)

My build as it stands:
ST. IVES' BLUES CLUES

Because of the way the head interacts with the CT, I haven't found the XL to be limiting. The large laser I use to poke at distant targets, while I use the mediums to open up armour and the SRMs to close the deal. Still not entirely convinced about the placement of the lasers. The need to put the large laser in one of the arm slots (since the head can't fit it) means the mediums are split between torso and arm mounts, making it trickier to get them on the same point of a target.

Sparks Murphey: Thanks for the advice! Although, I still prefer the ammo split amongst the two torsos. You are correct in saying the RT ammo is a hazard if I lose my LT SRM's (unless they ever implement ammo dumping). I play the mech using the RT/RA as a shield hoping to keep it long enough to expend all the ammo but WITHOUT increasing the CRIT chances on my main weapons systems (the SRM's). By having only 2 critical slots worth of ammo in the LT I have mitigated the chances of a lucky ammo explosion on that side. If I put 4.5 tons in the LT I have more than doubled the chances of an ammo explosion (because of adding the extra 0.5 ton of ammo) there for gaining only 5 more shots of SRM. A 0.5 ton of ammo is still 1 critical slot just like 1 ton of ammo.

All that ammo in the LT means the most likely result of a successful critical hit there WOULD be an ammo explosion. As I have it built the most likely event would be loss of the SRM 6 OR the ammo but the chances are still mitigated by the other items in the LT as well. You can see in the video that I've taken several hits to the internals of both the LT & RT yet there is never an ammo explosion. I ultimately get destroyed by destruction of CT engine coring. I generally am a brawler and build my mechs for survivability over raw firepower. I never use an XL (generally speaking) unless I intend to be a standoff ranged build.

I pack my Blues with a pair of blue LL, a ML and a couple LRM5 to round out the loadout.
ST. IVES' BLUES

Play as a police escort to bigger mechs and able to hit at all range.

I "bought" it on play test server a few days ago, made this build:

[smurfy]http://mwo.smurfy-ne...71721815be25888[/smurfy]

(hmm, maybe i had 12 DHS and 1JJ, 2,5 tons ammo, not sure)

1st game, around 600 damage 2 kills on Terra Therma. Played a few more games , all in 300-500 dmg range.

This little mechs spreads damage well and has a good mobility with maxed engine.
Can't wait for the sale (i buy heroes on sales only), and mastering the chassis. Other variants look very interesting too.

It feels like a bigger firestarter or commando. I like it...

Yep, I'm excited to try the other variants when they go on sale for Space bucks myself.
