Okay, folks...

If you have piloted both Summoner and Timberwolf Mechs, could you please say which is better for you, and why? When I mean "Why" I don't mean "It's better because I kill more" but rather "it's better because XXXX weapons/armor does this, and YYYYY something does that, which results in me killing/winning more"

I'd like to know how things are from those who piloted them. I haven't piloted them, but I have seen them on the field, and I think [REDACTED]. However, that's unimportant, because I want to know from the mouths of those who have Piloted them.

We value your opinion, and your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you for working with Prosperity Park information services. Have a great day :-)

I choose the Timberwolf because there is very little you can do with 22 tons of pod space as a 70 ton mech.

I would choose the Timberwolf even if I couldn't have JJs on it.

I would choose my Cataphract and my Jagers before the Summoner, because even though they are squishier - they have weapon load outs that are actually fun.

In fact, I would probably take Shadowhawk, Stormcrow and Nova before I take the Summoner.

The Mad Cat has vastly, vastly superior hardpoints and pod space. Its weapons are also mounted slightly higher, which makes peeking that much easier.

The Suckoner's one semi-advantage is that its more narrow torso profile can be more easily shielded from the side. This means that your arms can be used as shields with a Thor, whereas Mad Cat arms rarely absorb much damage (it goes mostly to the torsos). Otherwise, though, it feels like piloting a morbidly obese medium mech trapped in a heavy's body.

Summoner the way I can make it dance around in close makes me happy, but the Timber Wolf is better statistically it is better mech. Significant armor difference and the 5 tons of pod space marks it as the superior Clan heavy.

I am better in the Summoner because Jade Falcon.

Actually the summoner has superior Torso mounts, they are much higher than the TBR and don't require you to expose as much of yourself to hill-poke as the TBR does.

Unfortunately the only sniper weapon you can mount there is the Gauss and you can only take one of them.

If there were Energy hardpoints into those Torso mounts, I'd actually give this mech another go.

2x cLPL in the high Torso mounts would make a solid base for a build.

Summoner

Because TWolf bores me. Will run it with my Team as needed. BUT, prefer Summoner. I am a Medium Jock, and it moves a Shadowhawk. Firepower is limited, but to me, that just forces creativity. Twolf....meh. Let the MetaLords have it. I would rather go my own way, and actually have fun, then conform to what the Forums say I should run.

Don't hate the popular kid just because he's popular. He's not such a bad guy. :)

Honestly the summoner doesn't feel like my Shadowhawk at all, it just feels like a faster Fataphract.

Dem ballistics eat up your tonnage real fast though. :)

Which is why I still want muh Nicolai Malthus energy boat omnipods.

Lack of endo and less varied hardpoints.

Even if all the hardpoints, endo, everything were reversed, I'd still pilot my TW over the Summoner.

Simply cos it's a f'n Timberwolf!!

In all honesty, I pilot the Timberwolf because of its looks. I even run it on a semi-stock version (changed the LRM to 15 and for more HS).

They are. It's Star Colonel Nicolai Malthus' Super Haxx0r Power... fit 3 critical's worth of lasers where there are only 2 criticals!

.... waaaaait a minute, don't Summoners have jumpjets in their legs? :)

It would certainly be awesome to fire those right under the River City drop ship!

Summoner, because it is my mission in life to master the mech and laugh at those who had belittled it.

Yes, and I call it the "Suicidephract".

I want to like the Summoner, but very little about this mech is redeemable.

See when I have a mech I like a lot based upon fluff, background story, and decades of TT play experience and then we get a system that limits all the things that make that mech unique or blatantly refuses to make it worthwhile.

Well that leads to frustration.

And frustation isn't fun. So moving on.
