It is my opinion that private lobbies are the single best feature you have added to this game since the start of open beta. You could expand on the success of this feature by making purchasable maps for them that wouldn't be suitable for use in general rotation.

Make smaller, less expensive maps using existing assets, things like a Colosseum or a Circle of equals. Maps appropriate for 1v1s, or 4v4s, or completely asymmetric maps. People buy Map pack DLCs for other games all the time.

Everyone is always saying they wish this game had more maps and selling map packs could be a way to directly monetize map production.

Frowned upon or not it's a feasible way to get maps made. Maps that otherwise wouldn't be made at all.

As a suggestion,

Offer a selected library of current maps that rotate through on the match win or timed out finish.
- The match's would immediately start after the previous one ended.
- Any consumables would be replaced and the teams would be 'back in the fight again', without delay.

Offer a 'Pause' function if any Pilots need to alter or change a Mech, but under a limited timer.
(not ready when the timer runs out, then the last 'ready' Mech is what the Pilot brings)

- All the rotating maps are listed for all to see and what order they will be played in.
(set by the Match creator and can be seen as a somewhat dynamic progression of battles.)
- Once all maps have rotated through, offer the option to alter or change any.

Similar to mini tournament style playing, rapid continuation that should bring a heightened tension level.
- Things will get real, fast.
