Hanging at the feet of the fatties is only half of the role a light mech can do. And Clan mechs can only do that half.

Well, yeah, with lack of role warfare... Just HOW much scouting is needed? 1 per tam? 2 per team? 3? 4?...
Smallish maps, lack of LRM at comp play, lack of role warfare.
Currently it comes down to (speed as defense(IS) vs higher alphas(Clan))
Clan lights are escorts, IS lights are scouts/harassers.
My Kitfox can have a 48 damage alpha at 101kph, what IS light can do that? Hell, how many IS mediums can do that?
Jenner can get 30 but runs into heat problems.
Some of the better players have said that the days of IS light brawler builds are over due to clan weapon range. And the fix of lag shields.
Clan Fire Moth and Mist Lynx will(in theory...never know with PGI) fix that. Clans will have fast lights with lower alphas.
Just a matter of how long it takes PGI to implement them...6 months? A year? 2 years?????
Clans have kitfox(versatile with ECM and 3AMS(for those who care about such things)) and the Adder, which is considered quite 'meh'.
IS has the Jenner and FS series as well as one Raven. Most of the rest are considered lower tier.
Kitfox and Adder can get 30+ alphas easily with a lower top speed.
Is gets a higher top speed but around a 20 point alpha...unless they push either a heat or ammo issue.
