Maybe giving newbies a mech that kills itself when you hit the forward slash button was not such a good idea. Or maybe it's hilarious. Probably both; how many of you have witnessed suicide novas during this trial period?

It's going to get a helluva lot worse when the ERML heat nerf goes in. Right now the Nova's full load creates 60 heat, aka the same as a 6 PPC Stalker (and we all know how those went...). With the next patch, it's going to be up to 72 heat, which is more than 7 PPCs. Trollololol.

I have been one. And I know how hot it gets, but Throwing an Alpha of 12 Lasers more than once is just... bad piloting.

I thought it went up to 112 during an Alpha, due to Ghost Heat.

Edit: My Mistake. According to Smurfy, with the Ghost Heat Penalty, 12 ER Mediums Alpha'd will result in a total of 153.80 Heat.

Well,
there is something to be said for going out in a blaze of glory.

(and it is funny -- having done it myself hitting \ rather than <backspace> )

I've seen newbies do it, I took myself to testing grounds for my attempt, even on frozen city it just about kills you.

If stock builds need ghost heat to stop them from being OP, the heat system is broken and needs fixing.

Sorry but if you can't quickly figure out that firing all 12 lasers regularly is a bad idea, that's not the mech or pgi's fault

Stock mechs are full of crappy gear. Your point is moot.

Nah
Stock mechs are fun. They aren't "crappy" designs, they just aren't going to perform as well as a min/max build

That's true of just about every single game ever

Negative. Maps and modules aren't balanced around stock builds so they won't preform unless encapsulated within their own queue, period.

I actually brought the stock Cent-A to a few matches the other day. I was regularly in the top half of the scoreboard.

It confused me.

Some stock designs can do quite well. Usually it's the ones with a ballistic as their primary weapon system

it's pretty unplayable, too, though not as much.

Sad, since it was originally a solid mech

A lot in the first days.
But, above all, it was a funny manner to improve stats: I'll wait the guy with the nova, he overheats and power down.... and boooooom!
Now it seems to me that it's not happening every match, maybe they have learnt. Pity.

well, it was fun to set my trial Nova to 3pV, hit override, then alpha a Cicada. It disintegrated, and 2 seconds later, so did I. ;)
