Aside from the seemingly prevalent ping issues (I'm playing from a deployment in Afghanistan so it hasn't been great since I left the states), this last patch saw my silk smooth frame rate go to absolute garbage, it's barely playable!

I can barely move around, never mind trying to hit anything.

My machine has RAM to spare and I'm using a GeForce GTX 260M which has always handled the graphics without breaking a sweat.

Anyone else suddenly having frame rate issues that make playing an absolute nightmare?

Yes. I came back after 2-3 patches, haven't played in a while. Thought they would finally find a way to increase FPS for everyone, but even my framerate took a massive dive once again.

Had a few guys on these boards help me out tweaking my client earlier this year, guess there is no way I can increase my FPS since we already worked with most of the settings.

My framerate was solid a 60fps before this very last patch (except when zooming in through smoke for whatever reason)... now it fluctuates from 40 to 55 all the time. I haven't changed anything with my system... I played the day before the game went offline for a day at 60fps.

i7 2600k @ 4.7Ghz, 16GB 2133Mhz RAM, 2 x 4GB GTX680 @ 1.25Ghz.

ZERO performance issues with other games, at no surprise to me.

FX-4170 @ 4.3GHz, 8GB 1600MHz RAM, 7850 PCS+ @ 1.1GHz

Much weaker than #4s rig, FPS 25-30 most of the time, but dropping below 20 during heavy combat. I should still be able to get more out of MWO, though. DX9/DX11 no differnce, everything set to Medium. Motion Blur & Damage Glow off.

I believe that these FX processors (or AMD in general?) are the reason in this case. I've played MWO since beta and always with similar fps like your. Had 17-40, average around 30. On moon map often <20.

My rig was...
Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
Processor/CPU: FX-6100 @ 3,7GHz (because I had turbo boost on all the time)
RAM: G.Skill 4x4gb 1600MHz, 9-9-9
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6850, 1Gb

About a month ago my motherboard or CPU broke up for some unknown reason but I was 99% sure it's either of those, so I decided to buy Intel CPU this time. Due to reasonably small price ranges the only choice for CPU was i5-4690K (@ 3,9GHz) and Maximus VII Ranger motherboard for it. I haven't upgraded any other component BUT my fps raised immediately to 50-80... So I can't think of any other reason but CPU. FPS of Guild Wars 2 raised pretty much too. Motherboard wouldn't affect much, would it?

The problem with FX CPU's is the architecture, it shares Core resources with modules, and as much as we wish they were, they just aren't as good as Intels.

Well I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one suffering from this calamity. granted this in no way helps me solve this issue at hand, I just had to be sure I hadn't incurred some freakish retroactive digital karma somewhere...

Hopefully, they'll get on top of this sooner rather than later, as I'd prefer to NOT be combat ineffective.

I've had this problem as well, I was getting a pretty consistent 50 FPS, now I'm getting a 20-25 with spikes in both directions. There doesn't seem to be much of a FPS difference between DX9 and DX11, though DX11 has an issue where the textures will flash.
Specs: quadcore i7-3630 2.4 Ghz , Nvidia GTX 660M, 8 GB Ram.

I had an early FX-4100 overclocked to 4.3ghz with an Nvidia GTX750-ti 2gb and the game ran like poop with barely 30fps on medium settings in DX9. Since I've upgraded to a Vishera FX-8350 4.0ghz the game runs at 50+fps on high settings in DX11. Get a new CPU man!

Hmm, although the last few patches have affected my fps performance negatively, some fog and smokey maps have a tendency to make me dive a few fps. However, nothing like the number you are describing. I have heard issues with the FX chips, so I highly recommend you change over to an Intel chip. I run 70-130 fps w/ a rare dip into the 50's and 60's during a heavy enough battle combined with environmental graphics on very high settings. My setup that is far from being top of the line.

The issue isn't my CPU, I can run a wealth of other games that require mad computing power with out a hitch (The Witcher, Crysis 2, Dawn Of War 2, and such all of which have a load of atmospherics and texturing depth). Besides that before this last patch Mechwarrior ran smooth and looked great, so the issues isn't my hardware as far as I can tell from my own benchmarks.

But thanks for the info, it never hurts to keep it mind for future rigs.

i5 4670 @ 3.5, 16 GB 1866MHz RAM with NO GPU
Regular FPS between high 20's (around 28) up to 40 on medium/low settings.

The issue IS your cpu. I could run my 300+ Steam library just fine on the OC'd 4100FX but not mechwarrior, nuhh uh. It hungers, and you will notice a difference like night and day when you feed it what it wants.

I have 2 machines, one with FX 8350 + R9-280X and one with FX9590 + R9-290X.

I run MWO maxed out at 60 FPS on the 9590 system, and the 8350 system will only dip below 60 if I turn the AA all the way up...even then only under heavy combat...(or running thermal vision on Frozen city...oddly...)

I doubt it has anything to do with the CPUs. The game is just poorly optimized.

Same Problem...
965BE, 8GB Ram, 6950 ATI
1680x1050, minimal settings, windowed

before last patch: 30-50 FPS
after last patch: 20-40 FPS

In brawls I am dipping in low 20ies and even high teens.

Not to make light of your issue, but I've always been below 30fps...

I blame clanmechs :D
Their polycount is way above what any IS mech uses, and when there are alot of them being rendered on screen, blamo FPS goes pfffffft!
+LRM 9000 filling the screen always lags.
