I'd like to see a time-lapse of the boundaries of the Inner Sphere and so forth. I'm not artistic or lore-based enough to do it myself, so I'm putting it out there: Someone please make an Inner Sphere Time Lapse tool, video, etc.!
I personally would like if it had a slider to go back and forth and see what happened.
Also, if this idea has already been presented, please link it.

Great site to reference many important maps of certain eras.
Then for timeline...

Those are great references but unfortunately it doesn't look like they provide much timeline granularity; i.e. there are large time steps between the 2750 map and the 3025 map. I could certainly animate between those two maps if I wanted to but it probably wouldn't provide the level of detail that Gut wanted, and it wouldn't be any more useful than just tabbing back and forth between the maps in his browser.
I suspect that compiling a more granular timeline of planet ownership would require a massive effort. If I had the data available (BTW the tab-delimited data from the iscs link above is great, just not granular enough) then I'd be happy to animate it.

Can't speak to it being 100% accurate, but it should be reasonable...

So this is my first (rather crude) attempt: Inner Sphere Map Animation
The animation only runs through 3058. There are some strange artifacts here and there that I'm still trying to debug, and some of the labels move around in distracting ways... but you get the idea.

Very awesome! Will it include what year it is as it goes on?

Oh, you are right! Thanks, I was just looking at the pic and it didn't pop out at me.
