What would you do? Personally I play to win. If I see a weak point, be it the legs, head, neck or back or somewhere already damage I would hammer it.

In a fight, you either get to go home healthy and happy, or you do not. I always fight to win.

Now in a contest, that's more like a game, or an exhibition. There, you play nice and put on a show.

First rule of warfare our Drill Sgts talked about. If you find your self in a fair fight you have already made a mistake..

Only cheating in here would be hackling and forced lag... But that is not part of the game. Anythingthe game is designed to allow is not a cheat

Naturally, if there are rules placed to prevent the cheating and playing dirty, but in a game like Mechwarrior, Battlefield...really any war game. Playing to win should be the norm. Or I should say playing to win without having to resort to exploits and hacking.

I play to win, im not a clanner :)

I will not, however, cheat under any circumstances.

Play fair while winning, play to win while losing.

I play to WIN. That stated, I won't knowingly use a coding glitch to win. To me that's worse than cheating, that's going outside the game to win.

The only true way to play fair, is to play to win, at all times. Cheating (aka hacking or breaking established league/tournament rules) means you lose.

It's a problem I've seen in a lot of games. Someone uses tactics to their advantage while people run straight in to their deaths. The people that ran in whine and cry about having their socks rocked and say it wasn't fair while I kinda blink and think "Well it's your stupid self that went in with no real plan."

Ask yourself how in-game characters would react to that question. Not the big-name ones, the rank-and-file gunslingers. Genyosha, Federated Suns Armoured Cavalry, House Kamata, Atrean Hussars, Skye Rangers. Would it be better to play fair if Genyosha has to concede Vega?

If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'.

The above is completely sarcastic, I just found it a funny quote.

I don't see why you can't do both, play fair and to win at the same time, since your question infers you can only do one, so if you're playing to win, you must be playing unfair, a premise which I reject.

I voted both, because I could and because its what I believe.

I voted both - I usually play to win, but might allow an opponent to withdraw if they fought well and were disarmed.

Maybe I should have gone Kurita...
