WOW, it looks like a horrible attempt to rip off star citizen.

LOL, PGI makes a garbage SUPPORT weapon (LRM's) the most devastating and quite frankly unskilled and absolutely GAME crushing on the battle field, now they are read to tackle a brand new game lol.

They can't get that right, now they are making a star citizen clone lol bahhhah.

I find it more hilairious that they are actually expecting this community to crowfund the new game too tbh.

Google is real successful, maybe PGI should make a search engine too!

Why mess with success., but it’s almost plagiarism. MWO was funded sight unseen due to the BT/MW franchise.
Ripping off…. I mean cloning EVE/Starcitizen is not a bad idea.

I'm not sure what's funnier...PGI's rip off, or this comment.

Would someone like to tell this man who dictates the effectiveness of LRMs?

Considering we've only seen one piece of art so far its kinda wrong to make assumptions about what it is or isn't. After all could one say Star Citizen is just a rip off of Freespace or EVE or whatever? Probably not, so best to wait for more info.

All I can say to PGI is good luck, I'm not going to be interested in this new game no matter what it turns out to be anyway and only hope the attention paid to this new game doesn't mean MWO can't become better and more fun to play than its been lately.

It is not dead........they. have started a new game with separate funding and backers separate teams working. Russ is gonna continue with MWO . The game will continue to develope like all Online games as long as there is revenues, ( us paying for stuff buy things so they can continue developement, pay thier employee's , and have some profitability ) and demand.

Looks like a Star Citizen clone to me, they have the same roles, and try the same funding model :P
Maybe they have better planing phase this time, i still kind of miss the loyalty system which should be shortly released after the phoenix package

Let me give it a try: LRMs are only effective if you don't carry AMS, are not inside or are carrying an ECM bubble, or don't bother to try to dodge out of the way of the missiles. Especially since most players tend not to hold the missile lock for the entire flight time of the missiles. If you are getting swarmed by missiles, there is something you are doing wrong.

If you are routinely getting killed by lrms, you are doing something wrong because they are a marginal weapon, more psychological than anything.

I'm a bit pissed that they are NOW going to do a persistent world MMO....I wanted that with MWO :(

maybe it will carry over in a few years.

I love the SC comparison, you did see that they "aren't ready" yet again, glad I didn't fund that game, scramble to debug for PAX, now this.

Also SC is an EVE clone and very very X series copy as well it seems.

Why is it any different than Blizzard making Diablo, star craft, warcraft.........or Activision in the 90, s with mechwarrior and heavy gear. Gaming Companies make games some of them make more than just 1. Derp! Lucas arts made zillion starwars games...Sierra made gazillian games.

I would imagine that after 3 years of only BattleTech, some people at PGI want to create and work on something else. Adds variety, mixes up the work day, etc. It should be a good thing, so long as they have the staff for both projects. And as Russ put it, it's not a smart idea for a game studio to risk the company on just one game or project which is what they've done with this game so far.

You know, since I left the Army....I haven't been lied to or had my pay taken from me half as much as I'd prefer.

Gee....I'll join up for the big package. My kids can eat ramen for a month or two so Russ can feel better.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
