Another 100 ton IS mech, multiple ballistic hardpoints in more than one location so it can boat big guns, unique body shape profile, non-humanoid Assault Mech (some of us prefer non humanoid mechs!), it's lengendary lore/TT reputation as epic win.
People would be equally excited for a Mauler, Annihilator, or several other chassis.

The AH does not have any Energy hardpoints. YLW is Ballistic+energy, AH is ballistic+missile. That's pretty different. Engine rating and other quirks may differ as well in the YLW's favor.

yes, you can put dual AC20 on a JM6 but you ether take an XL or are really slow, and can only have 2 ML as backup weapons, the Boom Jager is usualy extremely fragile, the King Crab is a 100 ton Mech with near Atlas levels or armor, it usualy uses a Standard engine and still mounts (assuming the KGC-000) 2 AC20s, a Large Laser and an LRM 15. this is a durable and heavily armed mech, albeit not that fast

and upgrading weapons means either:
Less weapons
downgraded armor
less heat sinks
will mean it is not the original. So either way there is a con. Its either slow but powerful or fast and less powerful (with less armor or weapons).

It was called "Hangar Queen" for a reason.

Base variant, comes stock with ferro instead of Endo, CASE(functional but not a must-have) and single heatsinks. Ferro->Endo is flat out free bonus tonnage, and switching to doubles will hopefully free up a few more (space will be an issue though)
Most players won't be keeping that LRM15 in place, either, getting more ammo or more lasers or more anything else

Let's do some math so we could figure out what a fully upgraded KC would look like:
- a STD engine, plus Endo Steel and two AC20s (no ammo) would leave 17 crit slots (since KC has its AC20s in the arms, lower arm/hand actuators have been taken out)
- an Atlas with a STD300 engine, Endo Steel and all armor maxed except of legs (73/84) would have 51.5 tonnes free
Now let's have a hypothetical loadout: 2xAC20(6 tons ammo), 1xERLL, 1xLRM20(2 tons ammo). It would leave only 2 slots and weight 51 tons. And because it is actually not a heat-intensive loadout, I don't think any external heatsinks would be needed.
And if you downgrade the LRM to LRM10, you could afford a STD325. If you remove it completely, you could afford a STD350, sacrificing all indirect firepower to gain the possibility to actually chase it down.
Seems like it could work out pretty well.
