What is most important to you in choosing a Mech?

What's most important? For my playstyle, getting the most efficient buildout. In effect, this generally means superior superior range, superior heat management, superior lasting power. Being able to drop enemies before they can lay down any significant damage. This pretty much rules out any scout as well as any brawler -- the former is never a threat at range and can't take a hit, and the latter can't threaten without taking damage.

But what i can see from the cockpit has a lot to do with my choices in combination with the hardpoint locations and map.On city maps id stay away from a Fafnir or a CB id prolly lean more to a atlas or the hunchie. Those extra steps to clear cover will cost ya.Playing Peeka bo on a rolling hills map in a Timberwolf its gona get your ears eatten ,while that same Fafnir is much less expossed. Those kinda things are what i usually base my choices on.
As far as load out goes most are functional ,spend enuff time in the mech lab you can figure out somthing.
Looks are unimportant,i get to see all the pretty mechs when im shooting at you girls:P. /run/duck/cover

I would rather have a funtional mech and survive so I can have sex later... so my vote is functionality over asthetics

What suits the Role I want to play? Scout, Assult, Com
Hard points and loadout.
Balancing Weapons and heat.
Because, right now they have said that there is no 3rd person view on the battlefield. So, the only time your looking at your mech would seem to be in a cut scene if they do them for Dropship missions, or in the Mechlab. While I do have mech's I like the look of over other ones. It's not a big factor over what will get the job done and be the best to suit the role I choose for the match.

1) Size of the Mech, and hitbox sizes. Some Mechs were overpowered/underpowered almost based on how big their torso hitboxes were in MW4. Mektek almost took some Mechs the other way by changing the hitbox sizes.
2) Hardpoints and loadout - I simply prefer some loadouts better than others
3) Weight - I prefer the lights to heavies, probably going to stick to mediums the most when the game comes out.
3) Reputation and name - I just prefer some old time classics over others.
4) Aesthetics. If you're going to go down fighting, you might as well be dressed in your best.

Though, I am the guy that four-slotted flight for speed in City of Heroes...

What about yourself? Aesthetics or practicality?
Ex. I think the Ares looks incredibly cool, but it probably has to be the most impractical hunk of steel ever made.
I sure do prefer them to look cool (although what each of us feels defines that may vary), but a nice balance of hardpoints for potential customisation also ranks highly. I tend to prefer energy or ballistic weapons to missiles, particularly if I have good targeting control (fires on crosshairs, without much RNG).
