2013 called, it wants its meme back. The Spider was fixed long ago. There are still general hit registration problems, but they are not centered around any one mech.

You think spiders are bad.. (well yeah they don't reg laser hits worth a damn)
Commando's are pretty nasty too, especially guys that know what they're doing, hitreg on anything moving fast is pretty horrible.

Pretty much, yes ... running a laserboat a single fast light shreds you without so much as turning mildly yellow if you don't get backup.
Taking down lights with PPCs or ACs is no problem at all compared to that.

That's funny about Spiders... cause it seems mine take damage perfectly fine, limbs lost and all. In the right hands, Hitboxes, HSR and Hitreg aside... Lights are deadly. ;)

Some people yet to figure out that the weak point of all lights are the legs.

I dont think attributing the op indirectly to have a lack of skill is helpful feedback at all.

I used to think spiders were invincible with broken hit boxes, and then I got them in my mechlab and started piloting them. They are far from invincible though ill give them this, they are so small the spread damage really well across the arms and torso. I love piloting them, but I still hate trying to shoot them for the above reason

Its because Lasers and Ballistics use two different methods of hitregistry.
Lasers are hitscan. (Lasers/Machineguns/Flamers)
Ballistics uses Host State rewind. (AC's/SRM/LRM/PPC)

They both tie in together, but Ballistics register way better than hitscan lasers.

But when you use any system that interpolates player positions and then tries to "guess" how many times you scored a hit, its always going to be a crapshoot.

Problem gets worse when the engine itself has issues "guessing" where a very fast moving object is, as anything moving faster than 100kph in the game causes the hitbox and the visible Mech geometry to be seperated often by a great distance due to low tickrates in the Cryengine netcode itself.

Simple explanation, Gauss/PPC/AC's will always register a hit more reliably.

Hmmm... My understanding is Lasers also has HSR but it just doesn't work very well at the moment.

Karl words were.. Lasers has its own problems...
