BF2142 had them and they put real world ads in them to get revenue.
If I recall correctly they weren't particularly successful, but I didn't find that they interfered with the immersion into the game. It would be cool if they were there AND destructible tho.

Pretty sure Solaris had some sort of thing like that, since it was Mech Gladiators. Even companies had their own stables of warriors
