so i was thinking on how the Match-Makers problems could be fixed,
right now if you want to join a non CW match you click play,
the Match-Maker then (based on what options you chose) looks for a game for you,
at current the Match-Maker though works mostly as intended but has some problems,
1) Groups Rule= the MM has to pair up groups of varying sizes to make a full team of 12,
2) ELO/Skill Rule= it has to make sure all or most players are within a set range of ELO/Skill,
3) 3-3-3-3 Rule= it has to make sure each team has 3 lights 3 mediums 3 heavies, & 3 assaults,
4) Localization Rule= it has to make sure all players can/want to play in the same game type,
any problems in the chain causes the Match-Maker to rethink its choices of team placement,
this leads to long wait times, and eventual mis-ELO/Skill match-up problems,
=My Solution, MWO Pilot Lobbies=
this system works on creating a full lobby system with in MWO,
instead of just a play now button their would also be a lobby button,
clicking this will open a list of server lobbies, that you can join,
also all private servers can also be found here as well,
=There would be 3 types of Lobbies=
MWO Lobbies, lobbies that are hosted my MWO, and are Public to everyone,
Public Player Lobbies, lobbies that Players create with MC, and are set to Public,
Private Player Lobbies, these lobbies that players create and are set to Private,
=Lobbies could have certain Parameters set=
these will help define the Lobbie and the Maps and modes in rotation on them,
there are 3 distinct parameters, 2 are Map bound, and 1 is a Mode Option,
as well as 2 final Parameters, ELO and Mech-Balance which can be toggled,
-
First, Map Parameters
Each Map in the game would have to be given Tags,
one tag on the size of the map(Small, Medium, Large),
another on the heat of the map(Hot, Neutral, Cold)
this will help players see what maps are in rotation,
when selecting the Lobby they want to play in,
-
Second, Mode Parameters
these are simply what modes are in rotation for the Lobby,
each can be toggled on or off depending on the Lobby creator,
-
the Final 2 Options,
ELO(W/L) and Mech-Balance(3-3-3-3) both of which can be toggled off,
if the lobby creator doesn't want to have those limit the pugs jumping in,
by default all Private servers would have ELO turned off,
=Balanced Joining=
to insure Balanced drops, when a player look at the lobbies they can join,
all lobbies that have ELO turned on, but are out of their range wil not appear,
also when a player clicks to join a Lobbie which has its Mech-Balance turned on,
they will be asked to choose a mech, that is needed to maintain Mech-Balance,
=2/3rds Drop System=
the half drop system allows for a match to start with only 8 players(2 lances),
at this time other players can still join in the game, and when 4 more do they drop,
when this happens a drop ship(like from CW) comes in and drops them in,
allowing the match to play more dynamically,
=Lobby Debrief=
after each game players will remain in these lobbies,
allowing for a rematch, to see if things would be different if you played differently,
allowing for players to change their mechs and then replay against the same team,
its during this time the Lobby would choose a new map based on its parameters,
if players change their mechs the Lobby Mech-Balance will make sure(3-3-3-3),
before another match can start, assuming Mech-Balance is toggled on,
now all PlayNow(Quick Matched) will place you in a MWO Hosted Server,
this will ensure they are not jumping into any match with special rules,
also their will be special Cadet MWO hosted servers for New players,
that would pit them against other Cadet players, to help with training,
i know this would take a bit of work to refine and get working properly,
but in the end it would allow for more relaxed and enjoyable game play,
and i feel this Lobby type system could not only help new players in MWO,
but also give a more relaxed feel to how veteran players play the game,
