Personally I would love to this kind of game mode, the Solaris matches were some of my favorite parts of MW4 Mercenaries. That being said I'm not saying it just cause I think it's cool. I really think it could be incorperated into CW, for instance if you dedicated your match to a certain faction you could gain prestige with them that allows you access to faction specific perks, equip, ect.

If you have other ideas for Solaris or something similiar please post so we can help PGI make this game the best it can be!

Solaris is basicly a arena match style game mode where there were 6 competitions, Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault, Arena Championship and Grand Championship. Once you had cleared all weight classes in an arena you qualified for the Arena Champ, then once you cleared all Arena Champs you qualified for the Grand Champ. You could also dedicate your wins to either house Davion or Stiener to gain reputation with them.

It'd be awesome to have a Solaris mode!
That being said I do strongly believe it needs to be limited to Inner Sphere mechs only.

You wouldn't see any Clan tech on Solaris 7 until sometime after the Battle of Tukayyid.

A free for all mode possibly with a lower population count would be nice.

I'd of course love to see the factory or coliseum as maps.

Thanks for explaining it to me!

Yeah i definitely would care for this game mode. This is actually the direction i would want MW:O going to after the CW, since i really don't believe that PGI has the resources to create a good Single Player Campaign. And even if they achieve the impossible and the single player is actually good, you might end up playing it twice or thrice before it get's boring, so 45h of playtime maximum for a huge amount of development...

what the game is now is not really a lot of fun, actual missions to do this or defend that or escort blah....

A friend and i dropped together last night, the two of use are in lights, with cap accelerators, its an assault map, the other 10 are fighting an uncoordinated battle and loosing badly and griping about us capping the enemy base, which as you can imagine is drawing off a few of the combatants...

long story short, people don't want to play the "mission" they have now so whats the point adding more?

A 1v1 Money Match mode would be fun.

maybe if you could queue for that w/o having to pay real money...

but then people would just met the mechs and ruin that too

Not so true!
There have been a few times where I either led or helped coordinate successful base captures -- in pug drops!

It seems to work best in Terra Therma and Caustic Valley -- the two maps everyone seems to hate.
I think it works well on those maps because they have a big distraction in the middle and enough terrain cover to get halfway (or more) to the enemy base before the enemy team realizes you are actually playing the game mode you are in instead of "kill em all team deathmatch."

So whenever I feel tired of just "kill em all" I decided to pretend I'm playing MW2 Mercenaries while pugging and that the team mates are "a.i. lancemates":
I take command upon spawning and immediately start issuing movement and attack orders.

Rarely I'll issue orders via Team Chat but I really try to avoid that because I'm a terrible typist and it comes out, "attcak d hbold lCOk on D!!"

So I stick to the Command Interface. Easier for everyone to understand.
And when the team mates actually follow the orders and you end up winning it turns out to be great fun :)

You'll always have some teams, or team members who do their own thing but I just view that as "bad A.I." :P

It's also funny when you have two full lances who are obeying movement orders (sneaky path to enemy base for example) and one lance who decides they're going to completely ignore your orders and go fight or just walk to some other random part of the map.

They end up acting as a great decoy who lure the entire enemy team away from their base and to the middle of the map while the rest of the team attacks the enemy base en masse and takes it within about a minute after reaching it! :D

Solaris Arena free for all is definitely needed.

IS mechs only, split by class, and let people spectate the battles, place cbill bets.

Yes, its great when a plan comes together.

A friend and I drop together and we usually ask "Plan?" and I'd say 1 out of 6 or 7 we get a decent response.

the rest is the usual crap.

and MOST start yelling and cussing at you if you start capping the base

even though that usually draws off a lance from the mob and ends up winning a few games

I meant putting MC or C-bills on the line for duels. I see now that I should've gone into more detail with the idea. People using OP meta builds wouldn't be a problem, They'd have to choose a mech from a pool of preset loadouts.

that might work, though i think the interest would be small, i find it difficult enough to make c-bills now...

I would go for it too. There were some pretty cool mechs in the Solaris package. Juggernaut, Tsunami, etc...wouldn't mind seeing an MWO version of these.

Well, if you win the "Money Match" you get the combined total of your and your opponent's bets plus a victory bonus.

Example: you and I entered a Money Match. You placed say.... 200k in C-bills and I bet 400k which ever one of us won the match would get 600k+ a 30% victory bonus.

Why should it cost you more than me?

hardly seems fair.

Toss in gambling and you've got a winner.

The best way to do gambling IMO is to simply have a Bidding system and let players do their own thing so as to not introduce more money into the system. Such as in a particular match I bid "250,000cb at 1.25 to 1 for player A to win". If someone thinks that is a good deal then they can subscribe to that bid with any amount from 1cb to 250,000cb. And I don't think it would be a difficult thing to code either.

It would certainly make things very lively and give individual pilots an opportunity to make a name for themselves.
