Relax, you are getting plenty lately... So chill...

Too many ungrateful people lately. Enough challenges, progress and free stuff lately and a quick fix to keep the game running gets villagers trying to burn down the village... CALM DOWN !

Not that its much of an Issue but unless you play 24/7/365, Premium Time seems to be very wasteful. I would think that the Premium Time counter would be set to 'Tick' when you are In-Game. Also kinda surprised that the Community on the Whole isnt upset that Premium Time is Clock Actual instead of Clock Virtual (Please adjust the Time listed in my Stats for Mechs, Weapons and Maps to reflect 24/7/365 from the beginning of Stat collection, both Current and Archived, to prove that there is no way to program in a Countdown clock for In-Game time)

I haven't played for long, about a month, but someone need to explain to me why patches and hotfix are done every time during pacific and eastern peak period. That's the weirdest thing I ever saw for an online game.

emergancy hotfixes maybe, but schedualed patches are almost always done in the UK/EU prime times of, 6-10 pm depending on timezone

The community as a whole isn't upset about how premium time is implemented because we've known how it would work for a long time. Either people knew that and chose to pay for it, understanding the constraints of the concept, or people got it free, in which case they can quit being ungrateful whiners.

The premium time really isn't different from the subscription model, you pay for a month, you get 30 days. They don't care if you play 24/7 or if you play for an hour as you've already paid for it. While, sure, I would prefer it to be only used when I'm at least in the game engine, it's been this way since day one, so its not like its a surprise. Anytime they have given us back a day of premium has only been a good will gesture on their part.

Bash is just an executable - the patch doesn't take the box down, it simply either replaces or recompiles it. OSX was a little more work, but not much.

Just got done patching a little over 100 boxes today.

Yep ... I have patched several myself ... but in a production environment I suspect the SOP would be to bring it all down, patch, test for any unexpected side effects and then bring it all back up.

In addition, the vulnerability could have also affected the login and web servers and they may have needed to make sure that they had not already be hacked ... so they might have had to bring it down, reimage the system, patch and bring it back up which would also take time.

Also, hopefully, they installed the correct patch since the initial patch did not completely solve the problem.

High Odd the Hot fix is to Limit the Problem with BASH BUG. Which a Bad Hacker could take control of their server, have access to any and all personal Data, Delete your account, Hold your account Hostage by Force changing your account Password or changing anything in your account.

Or do you want them to turn a Bind eye to the problem so you can play with PT on?

I can't say what I do or who I do it with, but I know a few players who have spent the last 2 days hussling at work because of Bashtasim 2014!..

As for the whiners regarding premium time... please get off your first world blame bus. Your power will go out, your isp will reset it routers and eventually you find out that third person in your favorite porn is actually a 3rd dude..... but relax and realize it could be worse. You could have Ebola and your **** could have just fallen off... Chill... premium time is great, but who says you would have won your matches during that hour, gotten a high k/d and benefited that much???... PGI doesn't enjoy staying late and doing these patches probably more than we like having them..so....chill....

This is PGI, NOT Obamacare... here you are entitled to Nada... so relax

Nope, I'm still crashing on the new map, regularly. Like 9 times out of 10 regularly.

Speculatively, yes.
It is a reasonable assumption that some of their servers are *nix servers, rather than Windows (I have not read anything from PGI that confirms it one way or the other). If any of those servers have the bash shell installed on them then they are vulnerable.and need to patch asap. The good news is that patching their servers simply means running the update service that ships with the os.

Ok so we will see. This is just another reason why dedicated servers are better than their data centers.
