when i played the tt game i started with a light mech. i enjoyed jumping behind enemies doing a little damage, and staying out of their arc of fire. eventually I moved up to a medium mech (a wolverine). i would like to do this again but in every other MW game lights have been pretty much useless (although i know this should be different in MWO), and what if it turns out that i can't pilot a fast and maneuverable mech very well?

this makes it very hard for me to make a decision on my founder's mech :(

and as much as i like btech i'm not shelling out 120 for a game i've never played.

what should i do?

You can wait until the last day of Funder's Package and by then, you may already receive the beta invite, or have enough insight on the game to decide.

I feel the same. Founder's packs are for financially backing the project. The perks are the reward for the "risk"

I would really like to be able to start downloading the client a few days prior to Aug 7.

Also, I would love, in game, a way to test drive mechs/load outs. But that's been rather thoroughly discussed in other topics too.

I really want to buy a founders package but i'm on the ropes as to which mech I want to choose out of the four. More info about how each mech plays would help determine which choice is best for my style. Hell if they did showcase the founders mechs in detail, my hand might be forced and I would have to buy the legendary package because I NEED more than one of them... I don't think that this is too much to ask of the developers, only snag there is that they may not be ready to show off in depth details because product is largely unfinished. Here is to hoping they are able to make leaps and bounds in the development of the game in order to appease this group of wary investors.

One easy solution would be to allow for a few trial plays of each mech before you would ultimately have to choose a single one (OR UPGRADE TO LEGENDARY $_$)...

apparently there was talk in another thread about maybe allowing you to switch your founder mech one time after the beta ends.

if you plan on spending 120 why would you need a testdrive? the 120 gives you all the founders

Here's hoping. The Centurion is sexy...

I went with a hunchback for similar reasons. Because we can use mech lab to do engine swaps, I could up it from its base speed of 4/6 to 5/8 if I want to spend the c-bills. And it's armament options suit me with 2 ballistic hard points and 5 beam hard points. I don't know if I can add jump jets or not yet, but that's not a showstopper.
