I agree on the 'lowest form', but not on wit. Otherwise you would have chosen better words or something more entertaining.
As for your arguments, I think neither the IS, nor the Clans did/are doing their citizens any favor. But the Clans have at least the decency to keep them out of the fight. It's easy to ignore important things like this when you try to find fault with them. And I think you did sir, no need to wiggle out of it.

Ok, I see subtlety isn't going to cut it here, "sir". Let's try this:

I also drew parallels to "klingons" in the same sentence. Do you truly believe I postulate that Clans are the warlike alien race from the Star Trek universe? No?

Then *probably* the "communist" bit wasn't meant to be taken literally either. No "wiggling".

If that's still too subtle to understand, I may fire up MS Paint and draw a handy diagram. I'm sincerely hoping your, "sir", reading comprehension will suffice this time.

Addendum (in case some things are still too subtle): the reason for quotation marks around the word <<sir>> in my posts is to make apparent that merely adding a word to an ill-meaning post doesn't make it polite, only makes it seem that the poster takes juvenile pleasure in his own mockery.

Addendum II: I was originally talking about your sarcastic statements about "Homer award" and whatnot, my statement about "communist klingons" was what's called "a rhetorical device". Seemed to have sailed right over as well, so thought that I should purge all subtlety this time.

Don't bother. You weren't exactly subtle choosing your words in this context. All you're doing right now is undermining your reputation.
Take it as a lesson that can be adapted to real life. It'll help you to get along and spare us a bit of misunderstanding in the future.
Your call.

Anyone dislike how the Sphereoid filth need to keep creating threads like this in our section? That they cannot be civil enough to the people who like and/or prefer Clan society to the Barbaric total war of the Houses?

*raises hand*

I have an idea, its an amazing concept called ignoring*. If this sort of thing rankles you so, then just don't respond, its incredible when it works, give it a try. You clan posters complain way too much about this sort of thing.

*not to be confused with the 'ignore' option on this fora, to me that's just a bad idea overall.

as for clan meritocracy, that's quickly becoming one of my favorite ironic jokes of CBT, with numerous threads to show how woefully the clans are the opposite.

Umm, 1 thread that is months old and started out as a friendly greeting... yes... this is the same thing completely.

Me. Clan society is similar the Legion from Fallout New Vegas in one reguard. That being, it's societal model is one only a sociologist could love.

It's also effectively a slave holding society, which I hate and loathe with unending fury even in video games. My mind is completely closed on this, I can't even make myself play such scum. There's a mental block that makes me sneer whenever I see the symbology of clans/whatever and enemies associated with them and seek to make playing that faction(s) as unpleasurebale and un-fun as possible for it's players.

I don't know why, and I know it's absurd. I'm completely hostile to the entire idea, and it bleeds over even into my gaming.

I wonder why the OP asked such question in Clan forum? Is it not misplaced here and more well placed in one of the houses forum?
I can only see 2 possibilities when I see posts like this:
1. Lack of common sense. If you don't like Clan, why visit and post in Clan forum...duh.. .It would have been equally irrational if I were posting this following question in one of the IS Houses forum : "Anyone just simply DISLIKE IS Houses as a whole?"..again duh...
2. An attempt to start another pointless "lets argue about why I like apple and not orange"

Yes I did because they oppose the US. You know those guys that bombed Hiroshima & Nagasaki & now portray moral hypocrisy by trying to dictate who can & who cannot have the same weapons they used that decimated a population, the effects of which still linger. Maybe you should watch White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was an HBO special. You can check it out on their website. You cannot shoot a gun then hold onto it & ask others to get rid of theirs. So again that was a YES.

Come off your high horse. Know what would have happened if Hiroshima and Nagisaki han't been bombed? Every Allied soldier from Eurpoe would have been moved to the South Pacific, the Japanese mainland invaded with nearly three million troops (mostly Russian from the north) and the entirety of Japanese culture, society and the majority of it's population wiped out in the bloddiest invasion in human history.

Learn your history before you spout out your brand of stupid.

fair enough, just dont 'lament' about these sorts of things then because it's a free (enough) board and people have to freedom to make arses of themslves. :D

ok I love history like anyone else here (though my field of obsessive study is WW1)
can we stop with the history analogues, just - just stop.

why are we debating history (primarily ww2) in a thread about a fictitious group from a video game.
Who care if person X is 'wrong' about a historical fact? this is not the place to debate or 'correct' them in.

Definately. They mask cowardice with stupidity and they think children belong in cans. Now that last part may have a bit of merit but the rest makes them worthy of nothing but greasing the bottom of my mechs feet.

Actually you can. And its because of just that that you are alive today. So quit crying and grow a pair.

What cowardice?

Do you even know where I am? You have no knowledge of the opposite outcome affecting my being alive. How about you grow a brain? It was an atrocity that has not been repeated thankfully. The perpetrators os fais atrocity have NO moral authroity to police the world, dictate terms to other countries or bully other states when their hands are bloodiest.

As it appears that the thread is quickly spiraling out of control, it appears that it is time to lock it.

I can appreciate the OPs desire to have a discussion about the CLANs from the view of someone who does not like them, however, the subject matter is a little touchy especially considering the location of the post. Starting out the original post with a well thought out stance on WHY you dislike the Clans and it might have be received better and allowed for civil discourse. Starting it the way you did just seems to be against the Code of Conduct...

Spamming or Trolling
  • Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums

Cheers and locked.

Cheers.
