With regards to rules and guidelines on Code of Conduct....

Lore-based jokes on members of factions (ie: Clan-aligned players referring to IS-aligned players as "freebirth", IS-aligned players making fun of Clanners, or pretty much everyone crapping on Word of Blake).... allowed or no? I would kind of feel cheated if Clan pilots weren't hurling epithets devoid of contractions at me, and I do occasionally enjoy cracking on anyone who isn't Davion (except for Steiners.... they're okay, for the most part).
Just want to make sure I'm not breaking any rules. I'm not much into the hardcore RP lifestyle, but BattleTech just isn't BattleTech without a little bit of lighthearted fun at other faction members' expenses.

Also, in-game threats are g2g, yes? RL violence is bad, and all decent people agree on that, but sometimes, friendly smack talk is warranted as this is a competitive PvP game. Again, just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.

I've enjoyed this game so far, and want to continue enjoying it... therefore, some clarification would be nice. Thank you, and sorry for the dumb noob questions.

Surrat, stravag or freebirth would be fine. It's still better to not insult at all. ;)

From here

As for smack talk in game, I see nothing wrong with it. Real life threats are a big no-no, but smack talking a player (without swearing, and in good jest) should be passable. So long as it is just joking around, it shouldn't be a problem I don't think.

And, for the record, these aren't stupid questions. The CoC leaves a seemingly gray area here, it is totally valid to double check and make sure you're not misreading something.

Though I'm quoted, I need to remind you that I am not a GM, only a lowly volunteer moderator. The GMs can best be reached with a mail to support@mwomercs.com.

You're a Legendary Moderator Egomane, not a volunteer moderator :P!

Anywhom, Egomane is correct, you should probably email support.

I've decided that for the next two years, every Jag that says anything crosswise to me, I'll just just tell him/her "Brace yourselves.... Operation Bulldog is coming."

Zulu Co., 1st Davion Guards, FTW! :)

So does this mean I can't call persons of a certain faction "Fed-rats"? :P

I am pretty sure in-universe insults wouldn't fall under the CoC.

If someone is threatened and violated by being called a Snake or a Tubie, I don't know what to say.

I guess that's fair enough... but I'm sure you can come up with something better than that. We Davs deserve more creative insults.

Follow this lead:
"There's three ways; the right way, the wrong way, and the Steiner way.... which is essentially just the wrong way with LOTS of assault 'mechs."

-(can't remember who said that, right now)

faction talk i think is just fine. I've however reported plenty of players for use of derogatory stuff the is against the TOS. I personally will never get upset when someone Role Plays, so long as they don't get upset at my thoughts on the specious origins of mixing vat warriors and Kuritan woman.

Of course I would never say anything truly mean or evil... I don't do mean.

Or "You might be Lyran if you think a scout mech is an Atlas with BAP."
