I could see doing this, dropping the min range by say 10% or even 20%. But that would be the limit. Now the ER PPC is also cool, has no min range, and better long range. It's just expensive.

Why not go all out and go with "Disengage PPC field inhibitor" rules.

Quote

In the Tactical Handbook, a PPC Field Inhibitor could be disabled by a player before firing. This allowed the unit to fire a PPC at units inside the minimum range. The normal minimum range modifiers were then ignored. The to hit rolls were resolved as normal, but the controlling player had to roll 2D6 to determine if the PPC exploded due to feedback.

Removes the minimum range. But, you run the risk of damaging the weapon. Another proposed idea was to have the weapon do feedback damage to the Mech firing the PPC.

why does the ER-PPC have extended range and no minimum range?

shouldn't it have the same minimum range as a normal PPC?
