Keira, would just like to point out that locusts, commandos, and spiders are not very valuable. Should you see me in battle shoot the atlases first, I like all my cockpit items right where they are thank you very much!

http://mwomercs.com/...everse-arm-ver/ that has got to be my favorite mech right now, that and a Partyback (hunchback 4P with 9x SPL with cooldown module)... i love just dropping in with those mechs and doing some nice damage...

the MLX is fun, i mean it is a challenging light mech compared to IS light mechs, since it has weaker armor, lower speeds, fewer weapons (depending on the IS mech) and for now it's weapons are all in the arms so, you got to play smarter all around...
which to me makes the mlx fun, but this particular build is my favorite, 1 ton of ammo means you gotta aim well and strike fast, while also playing safe.. it's exciting

Trips - The MLX is the clan mech I am most anxious to see go on sale for cbills. They just look fun, can't wait!

Well I love my Hunchbacks.

The G and H just hammer people into the ground, and the P Deathstars them into melted mech goop.

But I have recently picked up an ON1-VA and I'm loving it so far. An AC/20 with a bunch of SRMs for backup just mauls people in close range.

I run AC20/SRMs on my CN9-AH. Can't say I am good at it, but having the big punch is definitely a change from what I am accustomed to as a light pilot. When you get a good match it is awesome. . . if the long range guys do their job too well. . .then too bad for you. What loadouts do you run on your Hunchbacks?

I love my Centurions, and I would think that I am quite skilled at them. Packing an ac/20 and either some srms or three streak two's makes it a good one-two punch kind of mech. The shield arm has saved my life more than twice.

It is amazing how that shield arm can get you out of a sticky situation :) I just bought the CN9-D. I love the speed and the quick cool down time on the LB10-x, but I am definitely still trying to get the hang of it. . . I never realized how much I took for granted the light mechs' ability to stop immediately, until I started piloting Centurions (my first mediums). It is like "Hey, I stopped way back there behind that building why am I standing here out in the open now?" (I can be a little stupid so it takes me time to catch on to the simple things, haha.)

Necro'ing simply for the sake of nostalgia. Mr. Huge's and Soul Tribunal's contributions from page 3 and on are great fun to read through ;)

Dang how did I miss this thread!

If you Love Commandos like me you will also Love the Trebuchet 3C with an XL390/380

Plays exactly like a bigger slightly slower (140KPH), more powerful (4MLs+2SSRM2), much more highly armored Commando.

If you use the XL380 you get BAP, if you use XL390 you dont. But I like to go balls out 390XL.

When I started using this thing I ran into multiple 3-4 man light packs and killed them all. Its the most armor you can get to go 140KPH which makes it VERY durable no matter what all the Treb haters say.

Its also why I like the Ice Ferret. Plays quite similar, but with less armor and a more durable XL engine.

You know, if you like to Commando the hard way and roll stock, you really can't go wrong with the Panther. It's an ambush mech with the ability to boat almost the same loadouts as the Commandos with the useful additions of more armor and jumpjets. I've got one rocking an SRM2 and 4 MPL, and another using 2 MPL, 1ML, and 2 SRM4, both of which play a LOT like the very mechs I learned to play on. I also have the one as a sort of jump-sniping tutorial for myself, but that's not very Commando-like, so I'll just gloss over that here.

Ohoy. Where to start.

Well. Im mostly a medium pilot, but I'll try to give some short suggestions.

Enforcer: Its underrated, mostly because of some odd hardpoint placements in the left torso.
And a P variant thats crazy with UA5 + quirks. That might get changed of what small chime I've heard.
Also the D with LBX quirks have gotten a bit of critique. Would help immensly if the LBX get more powerful stats.
The R version are IMO, best suited with alot of lasers on the left side, though lose that and it will kill your firepower, especially with XL engine.

Performance wise? Get XL engines, near max for all of them. They have excellent hitboxes and have good durability, even better if you get good with torso twist. If you dont focus on XL engines, at LEAST get the speed tweak for them. They are doable brawlers with allies nearby for distraction, or as guard/escort mechs.

Shadowhawk: Now these fellas are very versatile. Cant speak for all of them, the 2k and M one.
The 2D aint the best put still has potential.
The 2D2 is really good with SRM 4 or LRM's + bap. Quite the light hunter/ missile supporter IMO.
With the 2H/Hc you can go crazy with 3 AC 2 if you want, though you need to stay on target to make that effective.
The Gray Death hero version, is good with an all type of weapon mixup or LRM + medium/pulse lasers.

Performance wise? I avoid XL on these, except the Gray Death even with somewhat good hitboxes, these fellas are TALL and I find them more as an escort, supporter/harrasser type of mech, not an brawler.

Blackjack: Also nicked "Mini-Jager"

Long since I've played these, but cant speak for the 1x.
The 3 variant is excellent with PPC.
The 1/ 1c are okay, but the 1DC is better IMO, its kinda like an upgrade of the latter wit ha mix of energy and ballistic harpoints, got AC 2 quirks now as far as I know.
The Arrow is a crazy machine with good ballisitcs and energy hardpoints. You can go full on 6 Machine guns, and even fit in Large pulse lasers which it is also quirked for along with ballisitcs quirks.

Perfomance wise? Well they are great pot shotters, hill jumpers, cliff sniffers, pop tarters etc. They can be intimitading if you use them as semi-brawlers with support. The Arrow can turn out to be a crazy crit seeker with 6 MG for example. They excel as scouts, suppressors, snipers and kinda good at brawling and escort duties. You can put in XL engines in them, but I also recommend speed tweak skills for them also, at least for the latter roles.

Hope it helped and that you might consider these mediums, they are trustworthy and very good if you take your time with them IMO :)

Thank you for the info, shadowhawks are actually next on my list, as I have the 2k, M, and the 2d2 and I they are all sitting invalid in my hangar since I have their engines and parts all scavenged for builds on my centurions ;). How do people feel about he 2d2 as an LRM boat? That is kind of the direction I am leaning with it. Sort of a Kintaro 18 ish mpl and LRM 5 thing.

I had a fun mixed build on it 3xLRM5, 1xNARC, a UAC5 and a ML i think. Regardless I just poptarted the NARC and then LRM from cover it was a truly unique playstyle and a really fun change of pace. I hate LRMs because they are boring, but that made it actually fun!

Honestly though looking back, I'd probably do 2 MLs, an AC2 and an XL300.

funny that you say no xls as i find that the xl on my dougram to be her boon as it lets her carry tons of fire power for her size

I run a Raven with two ER Large Lasers. Fast and packs a huge punch. Takes about 6 shots in succession to overheat, but if you are patient, you can get tons of kills.

Shadowhawk 2K - 3 LPL, big XL engine, plenty of double heat sinks - A really solid mech with plenty of mobility and firepower. The XL makes it fragile but you can use it's high mounted weapons to minimise how much of your mech you have to expose to shoot.

Griffon 1N - 3 MPL, 3 SRM6's, JJ, big XL engine - A finesse mech. Fast and mobile with a massive close range punch. I use it to prey on badly damaged enemy mechs. It can rack up a lot of damage very quickly but easily overheats. Get in, kill your target, get out, cool down, go search for another victim.

Cicada 2B - 4 MPL, big XL engine, plenty of double heats sinks - Really fast and really fragile. Can be absolutly lethal on a good day but if it gets caught in the open then it's toast. Wait for team mates to distract enemy mechs then get behind them and wub them to death.

Hunchback 4G - AC20, plenty of ammo - Team up with your assaults and go hunting. Great at chasing away any lights that try to flank your assault buddies. AC20 packs a massive punch at close range so using terrain/team mates is vital to avoid taking damage before you get into range.

So, I couldn't resist. I bought the Sparky during the hero sale. I am having a lot of fun with 2lpl and 4 ml with an xl320 (just had that one laying around) and some jj. So I am open to suggestions and sales pitches for other griffin variants and builds.
