don't think I want a pug group knowing my weapon load out, but on the other hand if there was some sort of indicator to let me know that someone on team was a LRM boat and I was loaded out with narc's or a tag. that would be handy also. Or a hot key to that just showed the load out of a team mate would work also. I don't want to shoot at a team mate. it's bad enough they walk in front of you. a proximity indicator would be nice.

I voted yes, but its not essential. You can tell well enough by looking at the overall health % friendly mechs have.

I voted yes.

We need information about loadout and status of our team mates, and honestly, i don't understand why people fears friendly fire because of the ability to target friendlies. Don't worry, if a friendly wants to kill you, he can already. Just disallow missile locks while targeting a friendly (to avoid confussions).

I think the ability to target a friendly would be usefull for checking out what others are using and for assesing their condition during CW matches.

Also, would be great for zellbringen practice..

The only problem I have with it is that yes, it should be on a new, seperate key.. but I don't know where I would map it to, cose I'm allready using so many keys that I could barely accomodate MASC... All the good keys are used up..

I do think we should be able to target friendly mechs (for example, press shift-r to cycle through friendly mechs)

However I also think the paper doll image and weapon loadout of every friendly mech on your team should appear on the map overlay screen. It should also give you information like what modules they have, how much ammo they have remaining for each ammo using weapon, etc...

You should be able to see the entire status and loadout of all your teammates at a glance.

Also when mechs call for help they should be surrounded in a green box instead of the normal blue box so you can identify them more easily. And there should be a hotkey to target allied mechs calling for help so you can immediately see their status.

except the whole point is to be able to see their weapon loadout. not to see their health.

Totally agree. Make it two different keys: R for targeting next enemy and, for example, F to target next friendly.

I'll SUPPORT this idea. Feature existed back in MechWarrior 2&3, as I remember. Always wanted to be able to check a Friendly Mech's Armor, in order to know who to give help to quickly. Communication in MWO has sucked as of late. :D

It's been a year since i made a Topic about that, and still, no one ever talk about that big of a lack.

We need to know the loadout and damages taken by our team mates during the fight.
So far, the only indications we can access about a Mech, even in our own Lance, is the percentage of armor he got left... For a Mech with 10 differents armor location, how can that unique number be enough?!

I understand it's less important for Groups as they usualy talk to each other, using a random chating tool as TS, but in PUG, you don't have time to talk and explain your loadout or your damages with the in-game chat. After a few engagements i really think you should have a quick and easy way to see the overall state of you mates:
- Is that Atlas cored? (= which one of us is protecting the other?)
- Was he's back armor stripped? (= should i walk behind him so he don't get backstab?)
- What weapons he got left? (= what kind of tactic should we use now?)
Etc.

Friendly Targeting should be set on a different key than Enemy Targeting, so you can't accidentaly target a friend in the heat of battle.
Friendly targeting should not allow for missiles launchers to get actual Lock (if you worry about the fact that it could promote friendly battles and team-kills).

Thanks for your answers.

Yes, but it doesn't show their loadout, and if you have 3 mechs in a row, you can't see them all due to the overlapping.

Doesn't show exactly where your Teammate is badly messed up, however. That's what this suggestion aims to fix. :(

Why would you steal that from the AMS Toggle? There are some unused Number Keys, amongst other options.

Yeah, I don't see how or why this is necessary when there are other glaring issues that need to be addressed?

Also, I'm not for this idea. Can you imagine the salty players targetting LRM assaults and getting pebbles in their shoes? I don't see any benefit to this.

Just for reference...

'Tilde', aka '~', is bound to the "AMS Toggle" by default.

The default for "Show Teammate Info" is the 'Q' key.

But when you have used 'B' to open the "Battlegrid", then 'I' shows it.

...and I hope the info helps. You can also check these default keys at any time in MWO with 'F1' as well. :)

I would not disagree with that. Perhaps they could do it like how the very first Trailer for MW5 Mercs was rendering it? Kind of like this video...

(Source: Piranha Games' YouTube -- "MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Pre-Alpha Footage (Mech_Con 2016)" -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz8Y1V8gy1A)

...shows us during the battle against that Raven Mech, but perhaps further require that you also point the view near to a particular Friendly Mech in order to avoid display clutter? Otherwise that could get real messy... :o

your damage state is easy to communicate. "I'm cored" takes less than 10s. and it's not all that important in pub matches to know the load out of your team. its not much harder to look at a friend and see what they are fit with than look and lock to see what they are fit with.

overall there are much better uses of dev time that can't be overcome by simple communication
