currently we are at the BT year 3049-50,
with some Technologies from 3052, odd i know,

so i was thinking about the Future,
how should PGI advance the Time line?
if indeed they do at some point in time,

Should we go with a 1:1 Scale time line,
but with time Skips that cover 5-10 years every so often,
the advantages of such would be a more authentic feel,
and a more Solid Stable MWO experience,

or Should we go with a by Decade Scale time line,
with events and technologies from that whole Decade,
the advantages of such would be a more relaxed feel,
more freedom to the developers, in content creation,

But what do you think,
Which 3050-60 Mechs should i add to this poll?
Which 3050-60 Equipment should i add to this poll?
Which 3050-60 weapons should i add to this poll?
Anything i missed? Please Post,

Thoughts, Comments, Concerns?
Thanks,

I would rather they work on PvE after CW instead of advancing the timeline. Then they can use the PvE storylines to advance the time.

advancing the Time-line vs PvE are two different things,
i cant see why both cant be done,

Time-line advancement is just them saying the time line has moved forward,
so they can build new weapons equipment and mechs, not unlike what they have already done,
vs
PvE is more Labor intensive building AI and maps and systems to run them,
this would be completely new to MWO and to the Devs in executing it,

Greetings all,

The current timeline is critical for certain events to be seen and happen for the players.
- We are in the middle of numerous Clan Invasion Waves, all need to happen and the Lore related items that correspond to this need to be played through by the different Factions.
- Many new Tech items and Mech's are being designed and released by each Faction with the knowledge from the Helm Memory Core and reverse engineering Clan systems.

Critical elements and events that need to happen, from Lore related events, need to be played through by the Factions.
- Quite a few of these events change how the different Houses and Factions relate to each other.

CW Phase 2 depends on this part of the timeline being here for it's use, and Phase 3 will add to that.
- Nothing should be done in the timeline till we have sufficient playtime with all the changes that are about to happen.
- If there is any specific time that a jump could be made it may be after the battle on Tukayyid. (no spoilers will be given)

We have yet to see any introduction of IS specific 'Com Guard' elements, what the rest of the IS would call advanced Tech.
- And I don't want to miss how that will be introduced, being a very well kept secret up to that point.

Here's a post with all the Tech and Mech's we see in the next few years, right up to the Jihad era.
- It's a long listing of everything by years.
http://mwomercs.com/...pments-by-year/

And there are reasons for each of the developments to happen, battles that needed to happen, loss's and gains by different Factions and Houses, as well as the Clans.

I don't want to see anything post 3050...ever.

Call it a personal preference.

I want a timeline skip really bad. Maybe skip 5 years at the end of 2015 and boom it's now 3055 and there's a few new mechs and CW events. Then skip another 5 or so years at the end of 2016. We'll need new and mixed tech eventually to keep this game interesting.

I do not think we need to skip anything, but the game should rather just.. uhm.. "speed up time", so to speak.
Every 2 or 3 months the game moves ahead 1 year, so in one year we would see 4-6 years passing in the Battletech-Universe.

We could also make that "1 year per month", but i don't know if this would be to fast.
People who are deep into the lore-content should be able to answer this question. ;)

That sounds a bit like what I've been thinking. I was thinking one IRL month equals two or three months in game.

I do not want them to advance the timeline at all at this point, but again, bad poll.....cannot choose the right options. Please fix.

your vote is biased unless you add a section to vote for no time skips, leave it as it is.

this Topic is assuming that PGI will progress the time-line at some point,
and asking whether players would rather have it skip 5 years or by decade,
those who would rather not progress the time-line i under stand your views,

Do not advance time, this is a 1:1 time ratio for the clan invasion.

Give this product its niche for that.

also give future products a right to exist, so we can still play the lore in a few years,
when and if a new game/expansion comes out.

Personally I don't want to see the timeline advance like that, for starters we haven't even seen the full breadth of 'Mechs for the current timeline so there is a lot of content just in 'Mechs. Plus they are still working on CW even though there is a working beta of it right now.

As someone mentioned I wouldn't mind seeing a PvE mode and if you want to do time skips it is in my humble opinion to include a PvE mode where you can participate in certain story events to advance a story however I would still rather not skip any time.

What i would like to see after CW is hammered out better is a focus on both front-line and second-line Mechs which would greatly increase the diversity of the Mechs all factions can use.
