I don't want to be a space trucker, and I like my design aesthetic to be more logical, and large warships in a navy instead of dinky little runabouts.

Here is the design concept art for Born Ready Games who have also made Strike Suit Zero.

Gameplay is said to be sort of a MOBA in spaceships, with a map containing sectors you can jump to. Some sectors have resources your team needs, while some sectors may be empty, and two sectors have your home base/enemy home base. Team sizes will be 5-10 players per team.

Not sure if there will be AI cargo ships, but I assume the MOBA sort of gameplay implies that there will be some sort of AI ships to attack and defend.

why not a space trucker? I mean be relaistic, IF we would be traveling in space, having colonies and all that stuff. Then we would need a lot of logictics and stuff and there would be far more "space trucker" that people added to the general genre. At leats until all the colonies would be able to run totally autonomical. Then spae deliveries maybe anyways too expensive.

And a spaceship due to lack of air in space don't need any aerodynamical shape. They would all probably be either cubic, or of round shape. and porbably dinky because there is no need for aesthetic at this point. They are working horses, they looks shiny at the sale, and rather used after a while.

cubic --> easy to build easy to desing as cargo internals.

round --> since spacetravel is 3 dimensional, a circular shape would have serveal benefits when steering at the "horizontal axis" Even if there isn't a horizon in space.

I doubt most spaceship would be build for interplanteary and athmospheric purposes, They would probably be specialised for one of both and have a kind of relais station in the plenatary orbit.

Ships as often in space sims would also not be minign and cargo ships, I mean our mining drills aren't the cargo trucks as well.

But surely these games are for entertainment and carrying the adventerous feeling of being a pioneer in new lands, or space. Thats why most are as they are.

Hey, a game in the space combat genre! Maybe I should throw lots of money at it!

I think you and I are talking about 2 different things.

My point, which to be fair I didn't really elaborate on, is that Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous (and the defunct Transverse) were all going to be about you playing as a small ship captain going out into a persistent universe, traveling around, buying low, selling high, and occasionally, maybe running into some space combat.

The game I want to play would be much more combat oriented, with no trading or such to get in the way of the fighting. I also prefer that I command a major warship rather than a 4 man trade ship. The Born Ready game is similar to World of Tanks or Mechwarrior online. You join a fight, and in under 20 minutes we've all be blown up or have blown up the enemy.

This new game by Born Ready Games doesn't have a real title yet, but their working title is a tongue in cheek "World of Spaceship" as that gives the game a sort of built in recognition on what type of game play they're going for. It's actual title will be something sufficiently Sci-Fi in nature that probably will have "Star" in the title somewhere.

There is another game called Dreadnoughts that sounds similar, and they even use a 5-class system where you have battleships (tanks), tactical support cruisers (healers), Corvettes (rogues), Destroyers (balanced), and Artillery Cruiser (sniper).

However, I think I like the concept of Born Ready better. It seems a little more like Community Warfare-light. You don't just search for a game, drop in and duke it out in a shoebox sized map. Their design has several areas linked together by your starship drive, and apparently your team gathers resources and that allows you some kind of advantage to aid in winning the game. Some sort of League of Legends gameplay but done in a space battleship game.

However, it isn't a fully persistant game. Just like League of Legends or other MOBA games you just gather resources on the map, but the game has an end that you can expect in less than 1 hour of gameplay. It isn't an MMO like EVE Online. It is a combat game with a bit more complicated map than your typical Conquest match would have in Battlefield or MWO.
