Wouldn't it be awesome to have searchlights on your 'Mechs like in MW4? Heat vision and night vision are cool, but I really like the idea of searchlights.

I'd like to have a searchlight on your mech so I can shoot you with a CERPPC outside of thermal range on RCN.

This.

A searchlight would do more to mark you as a target than it would to help you see your own targets.

Searchlights would be a nice little thing to be added in, while it would very easily give you away, it would still be nice to have the option. I can see some creative things happening with that.

Sure, why not? You can trigger them on when you get close for illumination and to blind anyone who might be using Night Vision.

While we're on the subject, how about flares like in MW4? Those were a lot of fun! :)

I do believe the TT construction rules state that any 'Mech can be considered to have a single, free searchlight on it anyway (since we do not have the option to add them as additional equipment), so I see no reason why not. :)
Granted it does make you quite a target, but still. XD

This is, personally, a subject I have thought about for some time. There are certain times, particularly on River City Night, where I find that normal vision is almost useless to me, and night vision is not much of an improvement. I would kill for an option to have a searchlight on my 'Mech, since most of the times I found I would want it, I've already been spotted by the enemy, or am about to engage. While the searchlight might hinder stealth if left on, it could greatly improve visibility in a dark combat environment, without tinting the world green.

Visibility is important, and I support searchlights.

I've been wanting them to implement lights of some kind for some time now.

love the idea, but with only 1 true night map it's likely a lot of coding for a map we only see once in a rare while

still, love the idea

Spotlights (the illuminating device) on scouts (which includes fast mediums as well as, uh, lights) could be quite useful. The scout illuminates itself as well at whatever it shines the spotlight on, this is true, but that can still prove quite advantageous as the scout's team can now clearly see a target, while the target's team can see a bright spotlight running around their friend, but not the snipers in the darkness.

As you wish!

I hadn't been on the forum in a little bit, and I am surprised by the ammount of feedback FOR the searchlight. Neato.

Voted yes.

River City night is more than enough reason to want a searchlight on a mech. Both for me to use among the buildings and in close fights to use to better effect than thermal and NODs, and for firing on idiots that leave them on at a distance.

I want to ask PGI: how do you feel making and advrtising Warhammer 'mech without searchlights implemented ingame?

Guys the same story as with the red eyes of the Atlas?
Seriously - I'm not affraid of any of you that are able to hit my Mech at a range were searchlights or the Atlas red eyes are visible but not the Mech.

The other thing is, wasn't the Searchlight on Warhammer and Rifleman linked to their weapons? I might say the SRM for the Warhammer was linked an did allow him to fire them precisely.
Last not least - would be interesting to see if a glare could blend a target considering the night fights.

Hey, if you want a searchlight, sure, I'll vote yes...

I just know that I would never turn mine on, since it would be like putting up a huge arrow with a bull's eye that says "I'm here, please shoot me" on my head..

But you can have one..

I imagine if somebody turned on their nightvision and looked at you with your searchlight on, it would be like Agent Smith looking at Neo in "code sight"

Just a big, green blinding light..

You should see how swat or militaries operate with tactics torches. Then you'll get rid of all those questions. Searchlights are extremely useful.

I'd spam that searchlight in a light like a glow bug and distract the enemy looking for mechs. Then some hero decides to hunt me down and I lead himt to our team and blammo. :3

Yes absolutely - provided that it completely flares out low-light vision for a few seconds if directly (I do mean directly) shone at a mech that has it on. The caveat is that the mech that has the spotlight on has penalties to remaining hidden to target lock even it has ECM active.
