the 1N (3 missle and 3 energy hardpoints) and 3M (4 missile and 2 enerby) make great SRM brawlers, they have excelent torso twist, 3-4 missile hardpoints, the potential to mount Jumpjets, are relitavely safe to mount an XL engine, and are my favorate mechs for an SRM brawler loadout
edit: and they can go over 106 without speed tweek while with the 1N still mounting 3 SRM6, 3 tonnes of ammo, 3 ML and maximum armor

Kintaro, Shadowhawk, Griffin all work great with a stack of SRMs, as well as the classic Centurion with 3 of them (and generous arm shield) so you do have a lot of choices deopending on the exact build you want, if you want jump jrts, etc.

The Kintaro was okay when it came out, it served as a streak boat to swat light mechs, or a LRM5 delivery system. The Shadowhawks, Griffins, and Wolverines(?) have mainly replaced it as a SRM brawler due to jump jets now that SRMs are viable.

When I'm finished with the C-Bill InnerSphere 'Mechs I'll start working on the Clan 'Mechs as they have a lot more features with being able to change out the arms pretty much and I just don't have the C-Bills to mess with all that just yet.

Únless you really want to have an XL300 engine I'd skip the expensive CN9-D, I found it the least fun variant of the bunch as well, though some people say it only becomes fun when you throw an even larger XL engine in it, so I've got it stashed in my mechbay to await final judgement.

The CN9-A was a tournament mainstay for a long time. 2x ML, 3x ASRM6. Strip the arm armor and use the biggest STD you can fit. Now that the CT hitbox is fixed they are less common, but still fun. The CN9-AL is a decent laser boat (not great, but passable), and the CN9-D can go really fast, but costs a lot. It does come with a 300XL which is one of the most useful engines in the game (especially for a medium specialist).

get the A and the D...
the D comes with that XL-300 which i use in tons of builds.. (at least 10 other mechs i have stuffed this great engine in) So that alone makes it worth the cash. If you get into this game, and play lights or mediums, you WILL use an XL-300 at one point.. Though personally i have stuffed it in my share of heavies too. Can't wait to see the quirks this mech gets..
the A, is a fast, punch you in the face brawler, Or a Fast long range flanker.. great mech, but is very nitch in it's builds. Of course this is all about if you enjoy the cent you are playing, if so, go for them next..
That said, there is a sale going on with shadow hawks.. might be worth grabbing now if you have said cash

The price of an XL275 + a whopping 72 C-bills in fact. I'm also getting it, I can use the engine in Centurions and Spiders as well.

They're not quite as SRM-capable as Griffins, but right now, they're very economical purchases if you're still looking for an SRM brawler, as they do is much better than the Cents do.
