I've only been playing two months, and have mostly played clan mechs. Can someone provide some constructive criticism on this build? I feel like it's going to be damn slow, but once you get to 270 meters enemy 'mechs should fall fast. Opinions?

little faster and safer

Reduced leg armor to 64 each for another ton (64 is enough)

Moved ammo out of torso to avoid lucky crit from a light with MGs

Removed one heatsink, which allowed for STD325 with 3 internals, for same efficiency but more speed

You are correct to maximize the potential of your SRMs. You may want to consider removing the MLs from the arms and reducing the armor on them to get a little more heat efficiency and speed.

Great feedback, thanks. I'm so used to C.A.S.E being everywhere, so thanks for the reminder there as well. I thought about having shield arms, but two MLs as backup weapons seems kinda weak... though my damag should really be coming from the AC/SRMs I suppose... I'll keep playing around with it.

Thanks again.

That one seems fine too it's more heat efficient with only two medium lasers.

I'm personally going to try the one below as I want to have more speed in my atlas. Could do with two less medium lasers in my build in exchange for more SRM ammo and better heat efficency.

Edit: I didn't notice when looking at your new build but you can put endo in that if you want for a bigger engine. The extra tonnage that you have left could also be used for more armor.

If you add Endo you can bump it to a Standard 350. giving you some tonnage to put another DHS, more ammo, and 2 more KPH! xD

I am such a noob - I forgot about swapping structure type. Duh!

Think I'm pretty settled on this. Might run a little hot until it's elite but I'm ok with not firing the MLs constantly.

Thank you for posting this. It made me look at my alpha capability of AC20 and SRMs. I've found a happy medium. With this one I can fire the AC20 24 times, the SRM's (alpha'd) 25 times, and still have 3 MLs and good cooling.

Finally...

Thanks everyone. I think I'm happy with this. Now to see how it actually performs.

Nice, I think I'll be going AC/20, 4 SRM6, and an ERLL (ct), shave armor from arms and using a 350 standard. Good luck Sent!

Good of a thread as any, this is what I'll be testing on mine in a bit: AS7-S

Armor ratios not what I use, too lazy to fix them in smurfy, move all but 10 from rear torsos to front and there you go.

Originally I thought to do large lasers in the arms, but I had about a third of the SRM ammo, and like 12 heat sinks. My D-DC runs a similar (though considerably faster) build and is hot enough already, so I had to pass on that one.

EDIT: Also just realized I never touched the leg armor, though given how few crits it has left it would hardly make a difference. One whole extra heat sink, will have to change that really quick before I actually try it out.

Maybe you should try the S like this:

I am going to try this one with a STD 350. This atlas variant is the perfect "brawling response" to the clan technology!! =)

And the art on the Centurion and the Atlas are very beautifull, that's a freaking amazing work!

Why it's better to put the ML in the CT?

Because the Atlas loses its sides faster then its CT. When your sides are blown out, you still have those medium lasers in your CT that can keep firing untill your CT is wasted

Ok thanks guys =)

I have mastered a lot of mech, but i just have one Atlas DDC before having the S has a gift!

So it's to put a "zombie" mode on this variant...
