it is... I have heard about this issue before, but i am not sure what the problems were.. you could try contacting Support, but they wont be back till monday at earliest.

perhaps someone else with this issue will pop in with help.. the only thing i can think of is out of date drives, or perhaps an update? Maybe your firewall settings?

It is compatible, although you may need to backtrack a bit and install direct X 9c. not included in Win8, some users may have it installed (from another game or from thier GPU installation) but it's not a default component of win8 afaik.

Keep running the repair tool until it doesn't find any errors. Some systems (like mine) end up corrupting the files very often. I usually have to run the repair tool a few times each patch.

Are you running an antivirus such as Avast? Some of them are known to corrupt the pak files during the download.

Can you also check if it's run as administrator or run from an administrator account?

Make sure to run and update all recent Windows 8.1 updates.

Are you connected wireless or hardwired for your internet connection?

Uninstall MWO and reinstall MWO but do not use default installation. Before running the install program, right click on it and select run as Admin. And use c:\games\MWO or something like that.

Run the dxwebsetup to ensure DX9c is installed.

If that does not instal, saying newer use the redistribution file. Once downloaded it will need to be unpacked then dxsetup ran from the new folder.

Can you go to the Metro Screen and open All Apps - and then type dxdiag in the search? Run this tool and there is a "Save to Log" option. Do so in text and copy paste the first chunk of it with your specs. That would provide a useful start.
