Next Friday it all begins.

http://massively.joy...-access-friday/

Played the beta couple hour and loved it, its really fresh breath of air. Modern set-up, first zone is basically like Silent Hill, later Egypt, Discos, PVP in old russian factory. Atmosphere is really amazing.

If they hadn't gone with EA as a publisher then I probably would have looked more into the game. To bad to as it really seemed like a good concept.

Trust me its awesome, combat is very simple, but they're working on it by adding dodge, it probably makes it little better, but the rest is really good. EA is only co-op publisher like they are for APB, KoA etc.

It looks great but after trying it i realized as fancy and flashy and nice looking it is, it just did not have the right feeling to it.

It is really a good game with great unique story, gameplay and features (e.g. saving various character setups/configurations; crafting; fighting on the move); also it seems for once the devs are actually anticipating players' needs and made a good userfriendly GUI. GFX is good too but don't suck up all computer performance like trashy WoT.
Since there are no levels and classes (which I love!!!) I guess many (occasional) players might have problems adjusting to that new system and gameplay. But I can recommend everybody to at least give it a try - it is really worth it!

If MWO would have not started soon/didn't offer the founders-package then TSW would have been my next choice for a new game. But since time and money is limited I chose my longtimelove Battletech ^^

I've already Pre-Ordered. The the game feels a little out-dated mechanics-wise, I love what they did to make the quests feel truly story driven. Not to mention, some of them make you use your brain in order to figure certain clues out.

True convo from the beta:

Player: "I can't find this ghost. Where is the ghost? OMG.. I've been looking forever."

Me: "Kill yourself"

Player: "Reported!!"

The game has a creepy feel to it and it offers enough to be a great buy especially since it won't be one of those "rush to max level" type games. You can take it at your own pace and TECHNICALLY not be left behind.

PS. MWO is still going to be my primary game, though.

wel i might be off base here and the poster might have just been an *** to the guy but,..
i would say that the guy is looking for a ghost the poster mentions you have to use your brain to work clues out sometimes so im just guessing that when he said "kill yourself" he meant kill your self to find the ghost

or i could be wrong n the guy in an ***?

2 things that appealed to me:

Investigations

&

the deep lvl-less system.

The rest is old hat.. if it had come out in 2003..
It just doesn't hold up in todays market, regarding graphics, animations etc.

I understand fully why they made it the way they did, the skill system would be a nightmare to key if they hadn't, but still..
It will certainly be polished up over the years after release, so if you haven't overhyped yourself, you'll probably enjoy the game a lot.

If i had been unemployed i might have gotten it, as those 2 things i did like were very well done.
But right now, the only games i have time for are quick deathmatch types, like mwo and wot.

my biggest peeve was the lack of physical response when attacking, felt like hitting air.
the weapons lacked oomph as well.

o well.

Ya, I also preordered the Secret World and was part of the closed beta. I love the setting and several of the design concepts, but I think that the developers have made a few significant mistakes (poor decisions not bugs). I still enjoyed the game and will play for my free month, but I won't be resubscribing (I'll be playing MWO which has me more excited). I may resub after playing MWO for a few months, it depends on how I feel the direction of the game is going.

The Publisher is FUNCOM, EA is just a major investor and they haven't been allowed much in the way of creative veto.I have really enjoyed the game from the three beta weekends that I have played. The character progression systems is very intricate and it looks like it has more depth then any other MORPG that I have seen prior to this.

The world is also very immersive and has a fantastic level of detail in both design and writing. Personally I think this will be the MMORPG of the next couple of years.

If you don't play this game just to spite EA, then that's your lose because this isn't an EA game.

I found the combat to be simple in principle but actually pretty deep and engaging once you got stuck into it. What weapons were you using?

Wife and I have the lifetime subs..... and its uninstalled. Why?

No sliders, according to the lead developer anyone with special powers must be an Asian ****** or a metrosexual underwear model as a guy. “Its good to be tall, why would anyone want to be short and fat”. Wife and I are over 40 and cannot play a toon that looks just like anyone else. Women are the same height as men. There is no weight slider. All women have the same oversized *******. All men have 6 pack abs and 1;1 let to body length ratio. ect ect...

The gameplay looked great. But a game that is played by "brainy" people tends to get "frumpy" nerds. We really had high hopes but I simply cannot relate to a toon that is not even close to “me”. Considering the game model is to NOT have alts, how your single character looks is damn important.

Well, I played only 2 hour of beta. I want to wait for launch.

I was using E8600, I had to actually upgrade my computer because of TSW. Currently I5 2.9GHz and running Ultra easily. Graphic card is old HD5700.

That's fair enough.

I have to admit that I was trying to get a hang of character progression and sort out concepts for my character so I spent a fair bit of time exploring the skills and options.

I put in a good 50 hours last beta and must say this game quite impressed me. If it wasn't for MWO coming out soon I'd certainly be playing (may anyway, I'm greedy).
I really like the skill system and once people get over the "tank, dps, healer" mentality there will be some really interesting builds coming out. While it needs a bit more variety in body shape and faces I really liked the character creation to, its like a virtual wardrobe :)
Strangely enough this game looks much better in the flesh than in any trailer or promo clip I've seen. While my PC is no beast I was able to play at high graphics settings, at US prime time, from Australia without any lagging nor did it crash all weekend. Having suffered badly with both from other MMORPGs this was a big plus.
