Nice, dude!

Just keep an eye on those temps! If you have two monitors I recommend running CPU-Z and RealTemp on the second one, so that you can keep an eye on it when you're gaming.

Did you OC to 4.4 using Turboboost? Or 24/7? What VCore did you have to push through it to keep it stable?

Multiplier 16-43 with a Base clock of 102.98 turbo brings it to 4.4GHz, Vcore varies with a max at 1.32V.

I did nothing TPU and EPU did everything automatically, just flipped the two switches on my P8Z77-V motherboard.

I've just spent a ton on a new rig

that's why I said hopefully not too much
so 200 € is a good deal, still a good CPU

so that's 24/7 running that speed?

well if you're up for trying and if the board lets you
I would recommend using Turbo Boost instead of a permanent overclock
saving a bit of cash on the electricity bill

As I stated above, it is indeed turbo boosted; the multiplier goes from 16 to 44. :)

not only should it save on the power bill, it should spare the processor and prolong its life.

This is a great thread. I have a 4770k @4.5ghz and a 780Ti Superclocked that is comparable to a 980. I also get fps drops when my mech is smoking or its snowing and the worse is when my mech is smoking and it's snowing :). FPS will go from 60-100 down to 30 instantly. It happens also when weapon effects get heavy. I look forward to trying the solutions here regarding game settings to see if that helps. I will post back my results. Currently I run at 2560x1440 and all settings maxed. Most of the time it is great, but I'm doing competitive drops now, and I don't want fps drops effecting my shots when my team needs me to be accurate.

I'm glad you fixed your issues. Your 2600k is still an awesome cpu and should fine. The difference between the 2600, 3770, and 4779 is negligible. I've owned all 3. Bang for the buck the 2600 is the best. Don't run over 1.45v though. I'd keep it under 1.3v if possible. My cpu degraded due to too many volts. Overclock.net/f is the place to go for overclocking advice. It's outside the purpose of this thread, so I'll leave it at that.

If all these high-end video cards are having trouble with particle effects then cryengine 3 / MWO must not be using the GPU for particle effects.

About 7 months ago or so everything was fine
Than a patch arrived
And that's it; probably a bug or something really ineffective thing introduced
CryTek games run fine otherwise on my PC
From the old far cry all the way through to 4

BUT
Those are made by crytek, or heavily babysitted by them?
so they know what to do, except the common problems like all big games these days I guess
The only other game using cryengine that is not made by crytek is SC?
And they still have to prove what they can do

GTX 970
5820K
16GB 2666

MWO performance = 0
all other Games and Benchmarks are f.... awesome ;)

but MWO isn't fun... framedrops from 120 to 25 (tested all settings + many user.cfgs and so on)
PGI should work 1-2 weeks only on performance and stop patching more and more cockpit items and all the other content..
Who wan't the content when u can't play the game in a performance it should like and upgradeing you'r system won't improve the performance...

All you need to do is Overclock the processor and your frames will be much better.
Exactly what I had to do too.
4.5 GHz should do it (if you are running 2560x1440)

Figuring this out was the point of this entire thread.
