Okay, so here is the deal. I have not played ANY computer games since Planetside was at it's prime. Planetside is a massive multiplayer first person shooter btw.. And Planetside came out right after Mektek started coming out with all the ridiculous patches for Mercs.

Recently (last year) I bought a new computer. At the time I believe it was pretty fast and probably still is.. BUT, the GPU crapped out on it not to long ago. So I just been running the on board graphics card. Obviously I need a new graphics card. I want the top of the line for my system. I do not want something that is built for a faster system than mine. I would have to have my system(Processor mainly) being a bottleneck for my GPU.

Specs:

ASUS CG1330
AMD Phenom II X6 1045T @ 2.7GHz
8GB of ram
64-Bit Windows 7
1TB Western Digital SATA

Once again I only want to update my graphics card and maybe HDD. But, I do not plan on getting a new motherboard and CPU. I'm pretty sure my CPU should run MWO just fine.. as long as I get a new graphics card to go with it..

Any suggestions?

you're CPU will be fine for whatever GPU you throw at it to be quite honest. Multi-GPU you will probably cap with a dual GPU solution with high end cards.
So it really depends on what kind of budget you have for a new graphics card. If you want the fastest single GPU solution:
AMD: (faster with newest drivers but more power hungry, much faster in GPGPU) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814131471
Nvidia: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130797

HDD you're fine, though you might consider an SSD for improved speed overall, I recommend the Samsung 830 line.

I'm honestly not 100% on my budget..

For under $425.00 at Newegg.. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130787
.
Please list your PSU (power supply), that would help to determine what options you could go with.

Here is a good rundown on some of the best value spots, though it is about a month or two old now:

If you happen to reach up to the ~$400 mark, I would recommend the GeForce GTX 670 (which is newer than the article linked to).

Both are good, both are Seasonic based, and both are from good companies.
Though personally, for the price, I would prefer the extra 5 amps on the 12v rail, but that's me.

You guys act like you have billions of dollars to spend on computers.

I work at walmart and i had to build a budget gaming rig a few weeks ago.

Graphics card? Go find an Nvidia Geforce 460. they run around $125.
http://www.tigerdire...2920&CatId=3669
Powersupply? Get a 550w power supply. They run around $50. make sure it has 2 PCIx16 6-pin connnectors.
http://www.tigerdire...6574&CatId=1079
there you go. $175 and you can run the game on max settings. Enjoy.

you dont need a flashy $400 card or $100 PSU. ^ this is what i am running and i can play Crysis 2 Max settings.

questions, comments. Just contact me anytime. I am a budget computer master.

God that's a horrible PSU. Only 30amps on the 12v rail?... you do know that that is only a 360 watt PSU, not nearly what it is advertised as.

This is a far better PSU for the same price; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16817207013
GPU wise, the Radeon HD 7770 is faster for the same price, while using less power:

You've got a 400-watt Power Supply, just checked the specs on your machine.

If you're looking for a solid GPU that is INCREDIBLY budget friendly, and won't require a new power supply, I'd give this one a look:

http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814125403

For less than $100 bucks, it'll run anything you throw at it (On medium or high settings, depending on the game). It also doesn't require a seperate power cable like the higher end PCI-E cards do.

Then you have this which is quite a bit faster and still doesn't require a separate power cable for $45 more; http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814102985

I have a GTX 460 myself, and I am waiting to see how well MWO plays on it... but I doubt max settings will be doable. I am sorely tempted to splurge for a GeForce 600-series card (like a 670, or a 660 if something like that comes out in the next couple of months).

Hmm, I guess I'm getting off-topic... sorry!

.
It has nothing to do with acting like we have money, I have owned a Computer Repair/Networking Company since 2007-08.
Never skimp on the power supply (PSU), you will literally get burned in the end... That is no joke.
You definately get what you pay for with a PSU... I wouldn't recommend an Ultra Brand power supply.
Don't believe me, do a little reading... I'm not trying to start an argument here by any means, but you shouldn't go budget on a PSU.
