Let's do this. All you have to do is opt in, http://mwomercs.com/tournaments Solo or group matches count. Let's dominate the leaderboards as a faction, and show the galaxy a drunk viking is not something to take lightly. Also a good chance for us to cooperate with other units towards a common goal!

This just promotes piss poor gameplay and poor sportsmanship, BOYCOTT IT.

If you really must play this weekend either do not opt in or drop in a clan mech. or both.
BTW This is a good time to pad your K/D ratio if you are into that thing, no one wants to kill any mechs, it would ruin your score lol.

I like the idea of this event. It promotes an "us" versus "them" mentality. Also shows us to have a sense of "them" via # game played.

Improvements? Sure. Make kills and assists worth the same (20 pts). Then have spotting worth 10, and I'd add in most damage on a kill at 10. The amounts are a moot point... The key is that kills & assists are worth the same, and a bonus for scouting (light/medium mech oriented) and a bonus for most damage (heavy/assault mech oriented).

With something like that implemented you would see less of the stuff the times you off.

I must say, the FRR is doing very well given the player-base it has.

300 less matches and we're hanging on in the bottom 4...sure, we're not winning, but we're not far behind Kurita! That my friends is called efficiency!

*cough* if you changed your faction you could probably participate.. And help the FRR *cough*

Let me make it easy. I, the Jarl of the Isengrim, officially offer to hire the SoR to fight for the FRR for the remainder of this event. I will pay you in 10,000 space pesos, a forum bump on your recruitment thread and one combat based favor to be cashed in at a future date!

Now, are you Mercs or what? That is more then anyone else is paying you.
To be eligible for payment I need confirmation in 6 hours, before peak playing times.

Change the 10,000 space pesos to 10,000 barrels of mead, and we'll consider it. ;)

Psh you are in no position to negotiate! This is the only contract you have available to you, plus it's to fight for the FRR, something I feel like was the SoR's original intention.

But very well. 10,000 barrels of space mead. Brewed in captured Clan Iron Wombs.

Just be clear as rain, I will deliver on all three payments in some fashion! It is not idly offered and then forgotten.

But time is ticking!

Faction challenge #4 will see you enlisted. The mead can only get better with time...

For number crunchers out there, a telling stat:

Faction Score / Total Matches Played

check it out ;)

Any idea about the player-base size?
I mean, they have to outnumber us 3 to 1 to make a fair comparison. At least. No? :P

What? Give away that mead! For not even all of the event?... *mumbling-in-that-space-beard*

I crunched said numbers and the result tells me that this statistic is completely meaningless - it correlates directly with the popularity of the faction. =P

FACTION = fac.score/tot.matches (#popularity ranking according to total matches played)

CSJ = 34.6811709 (#13)
FRR = 31.8941849 (#12)
LIA = 30.727061 (#11)
CLY = 29.937981 (#10)
CWF = 29.1609365 (#9)
KUR = 28.4010966 (#8)
CGB = 27.9889603 (#5)
CJF = 27.6504407 (#6)
MAR = 27.5476142 (#7)
DVN = 27.2714144 (#4)
LWF = 26.7965638 (#3)
STN = 26.7533346 (#2)
MRC = 25.1076547 (#1)

Obviously because the top players in every faction will achieve similar scores to one another, so the true variable here is simply the number of matches you're dividing by.

We need to step up our game in these last hours, though. We're only 10th out of 13 factions.

Even though the scoring system is a bunch of bullsnot. At least prove that we can follow the rules more effectively! Go forth and farm thy assists and damage in the name of Týr, Odin, and other various epic norse names!

Unless I'm completely drunk, your stats would indicate that FRR is #2 overall. It is an efficiency rating and FRR averages the 2nd highest points per natch. Extrapolate those points across an equal population base and we'd be crushing this competition.

But it could be this 9,890 barrels of space mead that we have left over... It could be doing the talking...

As of late Sunday night:

# Faction Name Score Matches. Score/Match
1. MERC CORPS. . . 144,165... 5,968.... 24.1
2. STEINER. . . . . . . 138,600... 5,463....25.4
3. DAVION. . . . . . . . 138,374... 5,367....25.8
4. LONE WOLVES. . .137,444... 5,314....25.9
5. KURITA. . . . . . . . . 135,179... 4,985....27.1
6. MARIK. . . . . . . . . .135,114... 5,069....26.7
7. RASALHAGUE. . . 134,150... 4,305....31.2
8. LIAO. . . . . . . . . . . .132,270... 4,398....30.1
---------------------------------------------------------
Assumption: it is assumed that total matches by faction includes any fight that had a player representing said faction, whether it resulted in that player achieving 130 or not. Reasoning: 20 to 30 points per match is less than the qualifying amount.

Conclusion: based on the above, FRR ranks 1st in score per match. LIAO 2nd, which makes sense... As only die hards play these factions! Every dog & pony joins mercs, so the overall population waters them down. As is true with Steiner & DAVION.

A note here:

The faction scores are the totals of the top 50 players in each faction.
The number of games is the number of games these 50 players have played.

The final numbers for average number of games played by the top 50 in each faction are as follows, They are listed in order of the finish:

Avg games per player/total score/ avg score per player per game.
119.36 144,165 288.3 MERC CORPS
109.26 138,600 277.2 STEINER
107.34 138,374 276.748 DAVION
106.28 137,444 274.888 LONE WOLVES
_99.7 135,179 270.358 KURITA
101.38 135,114 270.228 MARIK
_86.1 134,150 268.3 RASALHAGUE
_87.96 132,270 264.54 LIAO

In other words the merc corp players played 50% more games than the FRR players did yet they only increased the average score by 20 points.

20 points is less than an 8% increase in score. for an extra 50% increase in effort.

If you divide the average number of games by 6, that will tell you the number of hours that it took to do it in.

This assumes an average game length of 6 minutes, plus 4 minutes for searching, game loading, after action and relaunching.

The Merc corps spent an average of 20 hours playing while the FRR spent only 14 hours.

Again these numbers only apply to the top 50 players in each faction.

no, it has not to do with popularity, the score fom the houses is not the total score, its the score of the top 50 players of that house. So when 1000 noobs at steiner play 10 games making 10k games they will not influence the score.

thge top 50 gamers means 500 games in total for the achieved points shown.

but overall the tournament was anyways bad, it was about tagging and damaging but not killing. compare the chassis challange tournament, itwas a lot better, now all scores a extremely close, because it was all about hitting and damaging but avoid killing.
