Ok, its a stretch, but I heard the "loaders" in James Cameron's movie Aliens were real. The only issue with the particular invention was stability. So in the movie they were being held up by large cables that had been edited out. Was this a beginning to something bigger? Not yet... What do you know about this?

There you go. Not a loader, but this is as close to a mech as I've seen.

There are also some military exoskeleton things but I'm not sure what they're called. There is a stupid one that just takes most of the weight off of a soldier's back, so it's a glorified mecha-girdle (I forget what it's called but it's been on the discovery channel).

actually back when he (james cameron) made aliens those things were real, in the form of industril loaders used to move hazardous waste, but they needed huge power and never saw mainstream use, mainly due to the clunky extension cord

similar exosuites are used to change tires on the big haulers in open pit mines

Not sure what you mean, Fallout is based on an alternate history-type universe that is set in the future. It's not saying that this is what Earth will be like in the future because it's already dependent on the development of micro nuclear reactors over microprocessors. Are you saying skeletons in spacesuits are the future? I don't understand

Mecha make for great videogame and TT fodder, but in practical warfare they are of no use whatsoever. They would just be prime targets for aircraft and Tomahawk cruise missiles. Not to mention the power requirements and economic cost (how many MBTs could you build with the same resources?), and also logistical issues like the mech sinking in most terrain types due to its own weight. Power armor may be viable in the future, but 100t mechs? I highly doubt it.

I didn't see that the suit was called "trauma override harness" before because it was blurry. I get it now. Also yes, I did not play old world blues because I had moved on from the game by the time the DLC went on sale and I don't like to buy DLC at it's launch.

About as close to a mech cockpit that I've ever seen.

Btw, Mr. Cameron, if you are listening/reading, please make a mechwarrior movie. I know you like robots, so there you go.

0:25, Oh good! It's got a place to put my smartphone! That seems like a normal part of operating a war machine. (seriously, does the smartphone transmit to the mech or something? Does the iPhone help drive a weapons platform? WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME iPHONE?

In my personal opinion, I would prefer almost ANYONE else.
