If I didn't just buy the Wrath Pack and the 2 new Hero mechs, I may have gotten myself some Warhawks. :P

50% off sales for Inner Sphere, because very few people are still paying MC for those.

15% off sales for Clan mechs, because those are PGI's primary cash cow.

    Are you surprised?

It's cheaper to a la carte them. I don't get the pricing.

Edit: Nope! was 15% off beflore too.

Buying the whole wave pack or a la carte is still a better deal though.

    PSA:
    • If you're looking to buy three (or even two) variants of a Clan Heavy, or Assault mech chassis for mastering purposes, whether it's all at once, or one variant purchase now and two more down the line, buying mechs Ala Carte is still a better deal.
    Ala Carte purchase page.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------

    TBR-PRIME 5163 MC

    + TBR-C 5159 MC

    + TBR-S 5023 MC =
    _________________________________________
15,345 MC for three variants (about $64)
vs. $55 for three variants + special camo = Prime(I) variant

(Only MC package that will cover that purchase at once is the $99 25,000 MC package. Yikes.

Basing the price of 1 MC off of the 12,000 MC pack, it would cost about $64 to buy three TBR variants with MC. Ala Carte at $55 for three variants, a paint scheme, and the limited Prime(I) variant, is a much better deal.

Math is your friend people... Here is the math:

    A La Carte: $55
    25000 MC package: $99.95
    12000 MC package: $49.95
Approx value of $55: 13750 MC [assuming you bought the MC in the 99.95 package]

So... with an A La Carte you get:
    3 Mech Bays 900 MC
3 Mech chassis (One of them is an (I) Prime variant with the 30% cbill "hero" bonus)
So for $55 minimum for just buying one chassis set you get a total value of (including mech bays):

Kit Fox: 8025 MC or @15% off 6957 MC <--- cheaper to purchase in-game with MC
Adder: 9180 MC or @15% off 7936 MC <--- cheaper to purchase in-game with MC
Nova: 12165 Mc or @15% off 10476 MC <--- cheaper to purchase in-game with MC
Stormcrow: 14290 or @15% off 12282 MC <--- cheaper for MC while on sale, cheaper A La Carte while not on sale
    Summoner: 17720 or @15% off 15197 MC <--- cheaper A La Carte
Timber Wolf: 18955 MC or @15% off 16247 MC <--- cheaper A La Carte
Warhawk: 19820 MC or @15% off 16982 MC <--- cheaper A La Carte
Dire Wolf: 22015 MC or @15% off 18848 MC <--- cheaper A La Carte

For the packages themselves, for example, the top package... for $240 (the equivalent of around 33000 MC if you purchase MC instead) You get a total of:
122170 MC worth of mechs (Approx $488.68)
7200 MC worth of mech bays (Approx $28.8)
Warhorns, forum titles, cockpit items, AND 90 days of premium time. PLUS possible FREE anniversary rewards.

With the above math, you can see that you would even be BREAKING EVEN if you spent $500 on a golden mech+Masakari package rather than buying these mechs in-game for MC. (assuming you buy all of them) But it is still much more valuable and cost effective to buy the $240 package than the A La Carte. And definitely in some cases even more cost effective to buy the A La Carte packages rather than spending MC on these mechs in-game.

Happy hunting mech warriors! Remember, Math is your friend.

-My question is, do the MC purchased Prime variants also get the 30% cbill bonus? If not, then the A La Carte ones are much more valuable-
Math was rushed, sorry if there are any mistakes. ;) But you guys get the idea...

I believe Niko is referring to those who stock piled MC back when MC itself was on sale....

Which is a sale we should be see again soon, yes?

Well, as clan stuff was nerfed, and now inner sphere stuff is being buffed so that the they are 'different but equal' in terms of 12IS vs 12Clan matches. If that is the case, shouldn't the prices be the same for both inner sphere and clan mechs? So, yeah, you can move the parts around on Omnimechs, but you can change so much more on inner sphere mechs!

Thanks for the math update everyone. It is indeed still a more cost-effective option to go right to the Collection page and use those if that is your preference. Sales like these are more so meant to help out those players who may be sitting on a reserve of MC but not necessarily have cash available for a new Collection purchase. :)

Thanks for the sale on the Warhawk Niko (since it is the only wave 1 mech that isn't currently available for Cbills...until next week). Could you please give our feedback to your marketing team and inform them that we, the community, those of us who are spending the $ to keep the game going, would like to see MC sales on MC items and Cbill items on sale for Cbills (and MC for those who have surplus MC as you mentioned). Please stop discounting only the MC cost for items that can be bought for Cbills.

Better still, how about sales that are targeting the new player rather than sales "meant to help out players who many be sitting on a reserve of MC"?

Mastery Packs are 50% off constant sales targeted at new players. But good idea. ;)

I understand what you are getting at and agree the mastery packs are a terrific value for the new player (and even existing player) but it isn't a "sale", its a standard price. A "sale" targeted at the new player (rather than a sale "meant to help out players who may be sitting on a reserve of MC") would be to offer 15% off mastery packs for example...or 15% off the $ cost of MC packages (note I am only using "15%" as an example because it is the % used in this weeks "sale"...35%-50%, what seems more common for PGI, would be preferred however a little extreme for mastery packs since they are already discounted by 50%).
The bigger point I am trying to express to PGI in general is that an MC sale on any item that can be purchased with Cbills is of very little value to anyone. Yes maybe some people may actually see a value to these types of sales, even when the discount is only 15%, but if you have read the feedback on the last several months of these types of "sales" most people aren't interested in and therefore not "taking advantage of" (meaning they aren't rushing out to spend real $ on) these types of sales any more.
The truly sad part of this weeks "sale" is, if Niko is correct, if the target audience of this sale is "meant to help out players who may be sitting on a reserve of MC" then PGI's marketing department is targeting people whose real money PGI has already collected and therefore this "sale"'s likelyhood of generating new revenue (which generally is the objective of any sale) is even less that what it appears.

Since, I am spend most of my (sale) MC's for Heroes + Bays + some colors.. I would buy perhaps a TW.. if, it would be the I-variant, with the Bonus CB.. but so.. Sorry.. I must say no... and go back to the... hmm.. farm...

There is so much logic here my head exploded. You are right. I had not thought of it that way. If they wanted to generate revenue there have to be better ways. Most of us that live in capitalist countries would probably come up with some more effective methods. We would just draw on our life experience being exposed to commercials and local sales and coupon deals. Of course, that assumes they want to generate revenue, or that this sale was in fact designed to generate revenue. Maybe it wasn't and they just like making announcement posts? It's hard to figure out sometimes. But for now, I will happily keep posting the logic and the math to encourage more players to purchase packages since they are still available and have always been the most cost-effective way of purchasing things for this game. Still expensive, but the alternatives in-game are startlingly expensive.

I also like your idea for doing sales on the mastery packs. And I also agree that items that are available for c-bills should have their c-bill prices reduced as well for the sale duration. Makes perfect sense.

It's the Warhawk available for CBills next week, so they're putting them all on the usual 15% MC Sale. Eventually you'll get 50% off sales, but not for a while (probably not before the clan wave 1 pack is no longer for sale).

Or, you could just put the packs in the MC store. If someone has 14k MC sitting in the bank, why not let them buy a pack instead of having to shell out more money?
