does mech warrior play on windows 8.1? any one please?

Yes. My workstation runs Windows 8.1 and the game runs fine on it.

edit: I use Windows 8.1 64-bit so I can't speak to how it will run on 8.1 32-bit.

It may be free - but not everyone gets unlimited bandwidth.

If I came across MWO today I would be intensively wary of just trying it - simply because of the size of the download.

thanks I have windows 8.1 62 bit but I downloaded it run the game and it just closes after I hit login I have run the repair tool and no luck it still wont play.

Did you mean 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8.1?

This 62 bit operating system sounds interesting...tell me more.

Also some more stats would help. RAM, Video card, processor, motheboard?

processor intel® core 13-3110m CPU @ 2.40ghz I think I found the problem 64 bit os..

If not, please do so now.

You should also make sure that you have installed the .NET runtime labraries.

Also make sure that your system is properly updated.

Usually MWO should play fine on a Windows 8.1 - 64 bit operating system.

The CPU in particular is probably below the minimum spec line. It shouldn't be causing crashes but it probably won't run the game all that well either :(
