I would not know if any of the people posting negative things are hardcore Star Wars fans or not, but from what I know, hardcore Star Wars fans hate anything that isn't the original three films or is canon to those three films.

Personally, I think that lightsaber is badass. I just hope soccer ball R2-D2 isn't R2-D2...

I have done Star Wars since birth... I am hardcore... this looks like trash (also I did like -to a degree- the prequel trilogy).

May you be on the next death star when it explodes.

Seriously though guys.
You all sound like you've seen the movie, the script AND the directors mind.

We saw a few short scenes.
- A black male in a Stormtrooper armor
- A desert speeder
- Amazing looking Stormtroopers with a new design
- A mexican piloting an X-Wing
- A selfmade, unstable lightsaber (Sith were never taught in crafting a lightsaber, this is why it has these "exhausts". Also, this design of lightsabers dates back to the comic series)
- A millenium falcon dodging 3 tie fighters.

Not a word about the story
Not a clue who might be acting who
Nothing but a little hype. And that little bit was not CG-Overloaded and had a great Star Wars feeling to it.
Combined with Abrams great skill in dynamic camera movements and "powershots" (like when the sith in the forest pulls out his lightsaber) AND the fact that there are no LENS FLARES in this teaser.

Calm your manboobs, wait for the real trailer in April.

This looks so cool! I like the concept of a guard on a lightsaber; that's innovative! Also, the Millennium Falcon looks so bad to the bone with those graphics! I can't believe I have to wait an entire year to see this!

I disagree. Frankly, I think it looks pretty snazzy.

I guess we'll find out closer to time, huh? It is pretty early in the development though; it's a whole year away!

Maybe its because I have used CGI for years on end but I always know when something is CGI or something is Real. When I see CGI I suddenly lose all suspense unless it is done necessarily. Unfortunately the new Star Wars movies and Star Trek ones rely heavily on it instead of using practical effects like the ones used in Terminator Salvation or in Alien. The original Star Wars movies were done with barely any CGI. Just miniatures and stop motion and sets. And it looks real. Whereas we have movies like the new Star Trek or Hunger Games Mocking Jay where every time you see the CGI you are like... oh that is fake. Also this is JJ Abbrams so....

Seriously CGI is just bad when used excessively and this movie will do it. I saw those effects and I was like... ah yeah fake. I watch Alien and the effects are so realistic I know they're real... so it draws me in.

I assume you couldn't stand Pacfic Rim? Personally I LOVED that movie.

This is exactly the type of ***** I was talking about.

You saw N O T H I N G of this movie but you (as a professional hollywood VFX artist AND director) know exactly how CGI and how much will be used in the movie.

Me too. And a friend even named his 100k € boat "Jar Jar" because he loved Ep. 1 so much.

Considering your Age, Marack, your opinion really sounds like the popular internet bashing of the first three episodes because of... whatever.

I think Ep. 3 was the best ever,

Well I had always wondered why Lightsabers did not have guards like the vast majority of real swords have (a feature which could have preserved both Luke's and Anakin's hands), now I know why, because it looks somewhat silly.

I am cautiously optimistic about this film but I would have preferred something based on the extended universe rather than something that looks like it will turn the previously canon novels (I own more than 100) into works set in a parallel universe (the rules for canon in Star Wars are than any official books, comics, games ect. are canon unless directly contradicted by something in a film or TV series).

"If you look at the ‘beam’, it’s not stabilised and looks less sophisticated compared to the other films.
That plus the two ‘exhaust vents’ gives me the impression it’s very old.

So old in fact, the one wielding it may be a very old Sith, reawakened. Because he has come back, there is a disturbance in the force, hence it appears to have awoken. – There were stories (I believe in KOTR) where you visit a temple and awake an old sith."

When Disney took over they already declared all non-movie released stuff to be non-canon, except for the new stuff now released under the sign of the mouse, like Star Wars Rebels.

All previous novels, animated series, comics and games are no longer a part of the canon.
