Been there, done that... Going from an assault to a light can really make you lose 5 minutes of your life that you will never have back.

If I had a good enough system to record at a playable framerate, I'd totally do a "light pilot plays assaults" series. It's just as bad. I haven't put myself in an Atlas or Whale yet... that day will be a terrifying day. I feel so vulnerable in big mechs because they refuse to MOVE.

I started this version of Mechwarrior with 3x Locusts! While watching your video I remembered noticing how hard it was for me to deal with position using a slower assault. LOL Locusts can move into a good spot and out of bad ones so fast it almost doesnt bother you. But in an Assault a bad position can end you! LOL

This is why new folks get steered towards a medium or heavy - lights and assaults are hard.
Took me a while to find out my niche is about 55- 65 tons, going 70 to 100 kph. Nothing faster or slower, heavier or lighter.

I'm good in a Jenner or Adder, any other light feels like it's made of wet paper (except the firestarters, which are apparently indestructable, but I have none).

As a 95% light pilot, I've started playing assault mechs for the upcoming community warfare. I love 'em (and the map awareness game that comes with them - it's totally different from lights'!). My first few games were absolutely hilarious.
That moment when you realize that you can't slow down on a dime and you just step ever so slowly out of cover to your doom.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu (10 seconds later....) uuuuuuu- boom."
