Does any one have either an Intel 990x / 980x Extreme? If so how does it work? Does it run CW OK?

Also what video card are you using with it?

980x with an AMD 290x. Run the game on max settings @ 1920x1200 60hz. Also have the game installed on PCI-E SSD. Testing grounds gives me around 120 FPS. In an actual match, it usually hangs around 56 FPS. I am recalling these numbers off the top of my head, so it's not 100% accurate, but I do know there is a drastic difference in Testing Grounds vs. an actual match. I attribute this to networking, but I have no idea what really causes this.

Just for some reference, I can max-out (excluding AA) and mostlymaintain 60 FPS in Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Crysis 2, Battlefield 3, and many other titles, both in SP and MP.

To qualify, I do overclock my 980x (currently running at 4.2 ghz) but not my GPU. Furthermore, I do not think this game, nor any other game I own, capitalizes on the 6 processor cores this CPU offers, and certainly not the 6 additional hyper-threaded cores on top of that.

Despite this, I am very happy with this combination, and still see no reason to upgrade past it at this point in time.

To be honest, I played one match so far in CW. It ran as well as any other match, but I will play later and see if that holds up.

Must not have been to bad then. For me I can run at 50-60 FPS in normal matches. But in CW I run about 20FPS.

Based on my observations, performance is always better in Testing Grounds. It drops significantly when playing a regular match, and - as reported by others - seems to suffer another drastic hit when playing CW.

I am by no means an expert on any of this, but inductive reasoning indicates to me that performance seemsto be heavily affected by network activity. Of course scene complexity is a major contributor to performance degradation, but based on other cryengine games and even experiences in this game, I think bad performance and the games networking/netcode are drastically linked. I mean, at any given time during a CW game, it does not seem to be more complicated than a regular match. However, maybe the increased state/object updates (dropships, gates, etc) being sent and received over the network is terribly unoptimized.

I know some people have suggested it is loading all 96 mechs into CW from the start plus the new map features and that is the problem for some. No idea either hope they figure it out. But still need an upgrade so will probably get a 80x or a 990x.

Veraly, I say yar

Also, with a DDR3-1866 RAM speed-up, and a wipe-install of C:, I now see ~150fps in the training grounds; Haven't been into CW, nor can I get my "normal" tests to happen often enough, so I don't know if I've moved my minimums up, yet …

I have a i7-950 OC'd to 3.5ghz and run an Evga 770SC and average about 45-60 (have vsync on) in game at 1080p dx11. The only things I think I turned down were particles to medium and shadow to medium. In the testing grounds I almost always go above 100fps easily. I would imagine the 980/990 would perform even better.

Just to follow up, I've played a dozen or so CW matches and can report my framerate hangs around 55 FPS on max settings minus AA. This is about the same for me as regular matches.

Thanks, but with so little other reporting about the issue (there was a patch for removing carcases, right?) I don't know what this tells us …
