So I see an option to create a unit, but I don't see an option to join one. So how do I join a unit if I don't want to create my own?

Also, what exactly is involved with being part of a unit? Do I have to contact the other players via the internet and figure out times we can all drop together? Can I be part of the unit and still do solo drops?

So the best way to decide on joining a unit is to check out the topics in this thread:

Generally units expect you to get on TS with them, and at least make an effort to drop with them. Some expect more from members, some less. You can still solo drop without a unit, but group dropping with a unit is also very nice.

I would second Mech the Dane's Recommendation. Try to drop with several factions on their TS and check out the FRR hubs too. You can learn a lot from talking to people (and hearing them drop.) You will know if their style is for you.

Unit invites players, so you need to get touch with them.
