i'll call them lancemates, or starmates depending if in the future clans will be added. seeing i hope this is as close to a simulator as it possibly can the real tags will be learned behind the controls. bought the pack to support the developer not for the title... well.. and for earlyy access too.

Jokingly I would say cannon fodder, or targets or conscripts

Seriously they should be fellow mechwarriors. In canon they have to survive training and combat to operate a mech and to keep it working.

If they've done Beta testing and not a Founder.. maybe they could have "Beta Tester" flag added...

If they have a key and haven't become a founder... well I have a number of words I can call them (but not in polite company)

Free2Play balance testers.

If this game follows most MMOGs, the majority of people are going to be free players. Whom the game must flirt with to keep enticing to pay without frustrating them to the point that they feel like they are being punished for not paying. The entire core of the F2P concept is that people are often more willing to pay a little bit at a time if they don't feel forced into it, if they can play the game and invite their friends and have some fun before deciding it's worth a few bucks.

You need people to test your F2P mechanics to make sure that you're striking the proper balance between solicitation and fun.
