The Clans arrived with not only new battlemechs. (Or Omnimechs in there case.) But with so much more, something that has been introduced in Mechwarrior 2.

The Enhanced Imaging.
Basicly, it's a system reducing the amount of detail, making it easier to see stuff on the battlefiels. It may be not correct on the official description. But so far it has done this.

My idea would be to bring that vision mode has a module you can equip on your mech after unlocking it. Clans Mech only at first.
Then once the technology is officialy spread, allow it for the Inner Sphere mech.
Just an Idea I think could bring more immersion.
What do you think?

I figure it would be a nice addition.

I do not think it would have to be useful, let alone optimal for some people to equip a module like this. Although my vote was to make it available for the Clan Mechs, I do not see a huge issue with implementing it for the IS. I was simply approaching some very thin attempt at lore on that front.

Whether it was the video games or the cheesy cartoon, the fact is I think it would be worth it, if only for the terrible quotes and laughs.

Any tactical benefit (Heat vision I believe would be a good benchmark) would be icing on the cake by that point.

How dare you call that a cheesy carton?!
That anime is canon and is described has a "Poor Holovid"! :P

Yeah, if the Clans have it first, it will follow the lore. But I won't be against the IS having it too right at the start, since the invasion started...

You say that like it's a bad thing! :P

I think it was my very first exposure to Mechwarrior, actually...

What really matters here, is I'd love to get Enhanced Imaging, A module is dang near perfect way to put it in.

Doesn't enhance vision also give you more information about the enemy? I thought it also tells you how much ammo the enemy mech has as well as how hot it was.

I like this idea. Just not wireframe.

I'd like to have it how it is but with the orange also being used to show weak points on an enemy mech, such as where the armor has been stripped, in addition to valuable info.

Contrast, seeing hitboxes at a glance, seeing enemy damage at a glance, causing enemies to 'pop' agaisnt the background, contrast.

In MW2 you were gimping yourself if you weren't using EI the entire time.

Not really, you could just tell from the texture how much enemy mechs were damaged.

Right...

What would thermal vision be good for?

Thermal Vision allow to see thermal place, (at the moment showed in green.) And can give a better representation of where at the hit, not necessarly on the mech itself, but also on the ground.
The E.I. would allow to directly see the status of the guy you are targeting on your main screen and not on the little status in the upper left corner. (Would still need time to "calculate" it and show it.)

What would it be good for? Have a better tactical visual of the battlefield and the ennemy mech you are facing. But not has good to see all the thermal source and the steam of heat created by battlemechs.

DO_NOT_ADD

This reduced MW2 from a decent looking simulator to a wireframe alpha of a game...

Cool clan tech, but the MW2 implementation stripped the game of its aesthetics and challange.

Back a year ago when people were calling MWO Bluewarrior online was not nearly as fun as it is now.

Now there is a good balance between normal optics, thermals and light amplification.
Each vision mode is optimal for different situations.

Enhanced imaging would be best for ALL situations hence just dumbing down the game while also making it look worse.

Also for balance sake... the IS are having a hard enough time as it is.

Cool gimmick, but avoid it at all costs in MW:O.

How about give Clanners the thermal we had in closed beta? I don't care if it was op or not, that **** was cool.

A more modern version as a replacement for heat or night vision, maybe even replace them both.

I would like that, because I ran MW 2 nearly all the time like that, simply because it reduced he battle to only the vital information needed.

No smoke irritation, snow or anythign like that
No effect of camo with the background
Anything that is basically no relevant and just shiny nonsense will b e erased by that mode, focusing you more on the real imporant things.

I would be against it.

It would be one more step in the easy/arcade direction, and away from the sim I was sold.
