Federated Worlds of Lyra

Except I don't think there was ever just a Lyra in the fluff, at least nothing I can find by googling >_>

How da fk do you get a Lyran Commonwealth without there originally being a "Lyra"

Ha! :D Good point, on both counts!

when it comes to Isis, she is a traitor that should have been shot, the only reason she was not was because she was with a davion and they never lose enless they are out numbered 4 to 1. Look at the war of 3057. The free worlds league had to send in 3 regiments of vet, and elites to deal with a rookie regiment of davions and they still barly won. Sorry I can't remeber the name of the planet. Look at Archers Avengers A Davion loyal militia that wiped out a elite Steiner regiment then handded The Iregulers there arses, and then wipped out the falcon guard, who were the best in Jade Falcon. It is always set to be one sided. Davion milities wiped out the Grey death legion. The problem with the story line is it is so focused on the davions. Need I say more???

The only good thing about fasa selling it's rights was that the story books started to be spread through all the factions. No more 90% focused on the Davions......

The more I think about this topic, the more I am left wondering what Michael Stackpole would think of the various plans and machinations taking place for the way this MMO is going to work out. I mean, considering he basically created the factions in the first place and all...

Laf i was actually considering this very aspect a while back after noticing how many of us were sporting Marik flags :) I agree following 3070 things go downhill for us fast but knowing the coming storm is interesting at the same time. And I concur about the post 3100 era and supposed reformations. I haven't seen any further novelizations though since most of the backing companies stopped the printed novels after the Dark Age stuff right?

Hell, I know the unit I originally played under during the Kesmai days was decimated :P (Marik Guard -- Never forgotten!)

I am not sure. I would find it rather difficult to find pride in a dying house with a false leader and no true heirs.

Well House Marik has always been my favorite. It kind of reminds me of the Galactic Republic in Star Wars. It's even the oldest House if I remember, being the first one founded. House Marik has many things to it's credit, but the story line with Thomas Marik does not end well, it's true. Still Thomas Marik was the closest thing besides Victor Davion to having a noble vision for the Inner Sphere. Its why Victor Davion doesn't out him as a fake on the new Star League council. He thinks Thomas Marik is a good influence on the Inner Sphere and the new Star League. In our time line setup in the game House Marik is basically entering almost a golden age under the rule of the (fake) Thomas Marik. And maybe thats the best way to look at it. House Marik under Thomas Marik is almost like Avalon. With the Knights of the Inner Sphere and grand ideas for justice bing fostered before it all falls, like Arthur does. Arthur and his dream fell mainly because of the secret love between Lancelot and Guinevere, Thomas Marik falls because of the secret that he is in fact a replacement for the real (nutty) Thomas Marik. But like with Arthur, what a wonderful dream it was.

I think the devotion some us show to house Marik in the face of knowing full well that we will fall shows more strength than any other house could hope to have.

The Free Worlds League will carve out our own destiny. With our great Captain-General leading the way, anyone foolish enough to oppose our peaceful development must fight us to the last drop of blood for our spaceports and cities. Onwards.... to victory.

I'd find it harder to take pride in a "nation" that couldn't even create itself.

Lemme know how the next eight months or so go for the FRR. Then we can talk.

Heres to hoping that the metagame delivers what BT hardcores are hoping for. We will need that to gauge our success rate. B)

Until that day comes and after, I will still proudly polish the eagle that rests on my mech's shoulder with hopes that our proud league would rise more powerfull from its ashes like the pheonix that bears similance to our symbol of freedom.
