Getting tired of seeing all the same slice of life mechas being broadcast these days, looking for some recommendations.

Edit: (I love that the mods here allowed this.)

Cowboy Bebop will always hold a special place in my heart and always a lot of fun to rewatch.

I liked Soul Eater myself. Not really into the Fan Service, which it had plenty of, but for some reason the other humor and the basic tone of it caught me pretty well.

Currently watching Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, and I really like it and the manga tied to it.

Just started reading and watching A Certain Scientific Railgun, it's.... holding my interest but I'm still iffy on it.

Trigun was my first anime experience, still my favorite. Darker than Black, Hellsing Ultimate, and Ghost in the Shell round out some of my favorites.

They are old now, but.. look after:

- LOGH
- Yamato 2199

PS: And, least for me: Only in SUB form! (They surely fly somewhere in the net..)

And.. except the really crazy ending: NGE...

Here's a varied selection in my opinion, I'm sure you could find something of interest in this list:
Code Geass
Darker than Black
Fullmetal Alchemist
Baccano!
Durarara!!
Steins;Gate
Eureka Seven
Karneval
Black Cat
Blassreiter
Fate/Zero
Attack on Titan
Log Horizon
Btooom!
Trigun
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation
Deadman Wonderland
Broken Blade - (series of movies rather than episodes)

The list has little to no slice of life or fan service

I don't have too many current series but here's what I have enjoyed a lot so far:

Masamune Shirow art books and anime series/movies(Appleseed orig + 2K, Ghost in the Shell (movies + Stand Alone Complex), Dominion Tank Police)
Samurai Champloo
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is probably my all time favorite. "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?"
Dragon Ball Z the comic, didn't care much for the made for TV stuff.
Cowboy Bebop
Afro Samurai (first one, 2nd one was trash)
Ninja Scroll
Anything Studio Gibli (Nasica of the Valley of the Wind, Grave of the Fireflys, Kiki's Delivery Service)
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away (Amazing)
Some old school stuff like Fire and Ice, Heavy Metal, and Orin: The Legend of Starchaser but not really anime per se.

I almost forgot:
Gantz
Deathnote (animated and live action were both pretty cool)
Elfen Lied
Trigun
M.D. Geist
Big Wars
Venus Wars
All the Robotech/Macross stuff.
Neon Genesis Evangalion (I got into these when I saw they did a full reboot/remaster in HD)
Full Metal Alchemist (good storyline and great characters)
El Hazard
Tenchi Muyo
Ramna 1/2
Wings of Hanamase

I FORGOT AKIRA from my original list. /shame

- Fairy Tail
- Sekirei
- My bride is a Mermaid

Also this thread should also have been made in the Off topic section.

- Heavens Lost property <--Perv show, funny but it's very skimpy girl outfit also Freezing on netflix was interesting plot, but definitely pervy

- Sword art Online <- I only watched part of it, very odd concept

- Highschool of the dead <-- idea of it was pretty interesting in first episode

- Trigun <-- Classic

Also:
Record of Lodoss war if you like LOTR style movies, it's amazing.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (Very well done; the 1.0, 2.0 etc are supposed to be better, big robots there's also Raxephon which was meh)
Cowboy Bebop (Very well done)
Akira (for a classic)
Patlabor (Movies, TV shows etc robots!)
Ghost of the fireflies (sad, not as sad as I forget the name but that one is REALLY sad so I forgot it)
Elfen Lied (Nudity but nothing over the top, kind of sad as well)
Princess Mononoke
Berserk (TV series and Movies, both amazing, very violent)
Fist of the north star if you want old school
Rune Soldier Louie was a nice comedy sort of one
El Hazard (there's 3 diff series)
Genesis Survivor Gairth (Old, cool blend of fantasy with tech)
Appleseed (old to brand spanking new ones have all been pretty solid)
Ghost in the Shell (Various)
Claymore (I liked it, sans ending)

Eureka 7 was ok

There's a lot more but I was just going off top of my head.

Edit: Adding to list reading others

M.D Geist...was different, it's old at least
Full Metal Alchemist was very well done, There's the original and Brotherhood, different endings and story lines fyi.

Death Note is interesting

Ever watch Gun Sword? It has mecha in it, but the mecha really aren't the focus of the anime. I wholeheartedly recommend it, it's fairly short.

Grave of the Fireflies? This was the one that was ridiculously sad. Set in WWII Japan when the US was firebombing Tokyo. Two young boys end up orphaned when their Mom is killed. Older brother has to take care of the younger brother.
